A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

hi DD - yes I did that as part of the rebuild. Used HEL black coated braided steel lines - with the raised bars, I needed a longer one for the top half of the system anyway. Overhauled the m/cyl too - it was pretty gunged up.
The m/cyl overhaul kit wasn't cheap either (?50) - twice the cost of most other overhaul kits for various bikes. Still, can't skimp on this - not unless you want to take an unplanned trip through a hedge!

First proper road test today - rides and handles very well, better than the CB360 I've got here - quicker too.
Last piece of the jigsaw has been ordered up - an OEM front mudguard. That one on the bike is a universal replacement type, so its got to go.
The replacement will need rechroming - more expense! This had all better be worth it!

And here she is with the new mudguard fitted - very pleased with how its coming along (but don't ask how much the re-chroming cost! :miserable:).

Wowee! (haha-right-don't want to know how much chrome cost! Need nag: watch out on the insides of fenders...I keep mine heavily and as toughly painted since I saw rust coming up through chrome..)

Not gon'na ask what it cost, just want to compliment on how good it looks... Great job.

Well, my wife says a fool and his money are easily parted...

so, here's the fool's latest acquisition !

how nice - not one, but TWO of them in the garage!

Even numbers are unlucky, better get a third one!

Congrats on the new ride.
Are those Jama pipes?
Naturally! You don't ever want to be tempted to scavenge either good bike for duplicate parts :) Happened to me-the "parts" bike I bought is just too good so I had to find a third to supply both runners! Just a few pieces off the parts bike has saved me Big $..it's a real comfort to have fenders, brake cylinders, discs, forks, sidecovers, ignitions etc etc etc.... just "handy" to swap in.

Steve Murdoch - it's a 2-1 Motad system on this new bike.
(My other example has its original OEM system fitted.)
Think I would like to try and find some OEM items if poss, but we all know how hard they are to find!

I also got a pair of downpipes+2 straight-through megaphones included in the deal.
Previous owner reckoned that noise-wise, they were a little on the 'offensive' side!!

Got the same problem with this second one  there's some really good bits on it - the PO sent me a whole load of info/photos/receipts of what he had done to the bike prior to selling it to me. Problem is its so good, it deserves to have the last few missing bits sourced and fitted to complete the task.

Anyone in the UK selling an OEM exhaust system, original seat+cover and a front mudguard, please send me a message!

I wonder if the gsx400 or GS450 doesn't have the same exhaust? and fenders? They're just a year or so beyond yours ....and mine look very similar to your first bike. You'd probably have to put slipon mufflers on but very-similar-looking are available albeit the chrome on many these days is a nano-layer..
