I have the Yoshi 4-1 vintage exhaust but the yoshi muffler is an empty can. Evidently the rear piece and baffles went missing before I bought the bike. WAAAY too loud. How do I replace the missing pieces OR find a vintage Yoshimura can that fits this exhaust? Any Ideas?

They pop up on ebay from time to time. In good shape, expect to pay in the $100 range (for just the can) unless you find a deal. There are some Yoshi experts on here who may have more info. I am in the opposite situation, have a can and need the headers and mid pipe.

Nice, Bike and Nice exhaust.

I cant tell if you have a baffle or not. If you do 1/2 the battle ; get some stainless steel Wolf and pack it. Wont make it quite but will help.

If no baffle you can make one from aftermarket parts. There should be pics of what it a baffle looks like here.

Can you get a better pic of what is inside the can?

Also that is an interesting case guard. Never seen one like that

That looks like a Yosh pro series II, shortened. My wife has one on her 1150, but has the racer s bend pipe. The supersport style like the one shown tend to scrape hard while cornering. I have an old baffle that may fit, but I'm a little challenged when it comes to posting photos.

Welcome aboard. Very nice bike. This must be the year for Kats as we've had 4 or 5 turn up recently.

I've got an 82 (750) that I'm trying to bring back to life but am currently having a biotch of a time trying to get it to fire.

I shouldn't think it would be too difficult to fab up a baffle for that can and or you maybe able to find something adaptable on Fleabay or the Internet.

As mentioned, you can stuff it with steel wool or you might find fiberglass packing (usually for dirtbikes) that would do the trick.

Tell us more about the ride and what you're planning.

Cheers,
spyug

Well it looks complete from the outside. If your missing the pipe on the inside, you can always buy a piece of exhaust pipe, cut it to the right length and drill a bunch of holes in it. Than get some fiberglass packing to put around it. I have done this before with great success.

Here are the dimensions

Here are the dimensions

Thanks for everyone's response. 58 cycle is contacting Yoshi about parts. Here are the specs I sent them. I don't think I want a straight through muffler. where can I get the baffles? I have the packing material.

1. 2.5” ID – missing exhaust insert. One mounting hole. Can is 10.5" long.
2. 3 7/16” ID three mounting holes. Missing baffles and packing
3. 2.5” OD, 2 3/8”ID Exhaust Pipe
4. 3” OD first step in adapter
5. Muffler mounting flange 3 3/8” OD
6. Mid-pipe to headers – 2.5” ID
7. Length of mid pipe – 22”

The can is totally empty. The exit side is 2.5 ID and the lip extends inward 1".

Here is my story. I saw a katana at the Gugenheim Art of the Motorcycle and had to have one. Found a low mileage bike in great shape in amarillo texas. So, being the obsessive motorcycle nut... I took it completely apart to make it perfect. Powdercoated the frame and am polishing the cases, then it goes back together with shiny nuts and bolts. Will keep it stock with a few mechanical upgrades - oil cooler, stainless brake lines, etc. I appreciate the suggestions and will tap you guys often for info.

Sorry, this is a little off topic, but are the Marzocchi's on the rear of the bike on the correct way?
I am about to put a set on my gs1000 and i assumed that they went on the other way?

Hi,
The end cap-cannister assy has been machined. It should have the yoshimura name on the endcap casting.
The baffle connect to your number 3 and is held in place when you put the cannister back on.
I will try to take a picture of the endcap.

In this photo you can see :

Top Can - a newer style Yosh can (circa 90s) from a FZR600. FZR has slip on on both sides. If you find one of these it will fit your mid pipe but because its longer you will need the baffle that comes with it. Paid $45 on Ebay. May be a little quiter than the short ones.

Middle Can - Also from a FZR 600 a little older and same length as your 1000 can. Baffle should be interchangeable as should the can if you flip the metal decal. This is from a right side slip on (off a 4 into two). $50 on Ebay

Bottom Can - From my GS1100 (priceless)

Two pics of my ceramic coated Yosh 1100 header. Rear of baffle is on right side. Front of baffle slips over the removable polished collar. Rear of baffle is held in place by allen head bolt. To remove the collar you have to drill out the three rivets.

Start checking Ebay for Yoshimura header or Yoshimura exhaust or Yoshimura Slip on or Yoshimura Can. It will take a while. Don't limit search to Suzuki. Good Luck

No idea. I am replacing them.

Isleoman,
Can you give me the dimensions of your baffle in case I have to use an aftermarket part? Your GS1100 piece is identical to mine. It appears I am only missing that baffle. Your post was very helpful. Thanks!

Length of the stock Yosh baffle is 9.125"

Front end that slips over the mid pipe (I said slips over the collar earlier and that's not correct. The can slips over collar, the baffle slips over the mid pipe) 2.37" o.d. / 2.25 i.d.

The rear part of the baffle that is held by the Allen bolt is 2.5" o.d. and the center exhaust outlet pipe is 1.39" i.d.

The FZR pipes have smaller exhaust outlet dia. (1.15") but same O.D., Posplayr's experience is they will still work in the 1100.

. I was wondering as I had never seen that style . probably the best thing to so is find another can ;it does not have to be the greatest then cut off and weld on a new end cap;else find a nozzle style end cap to replace

The baffle should be eazy to replace

If they are configured like the usual GS shocks (top eye to bottom clevis), they will only go on as pictured. On some other bikes, with eye/eye fittings, and matching shocks, they can be used 'right side up'.
Tony.

Thanks,
I was wondering what was going on.
Sorry about the off topic question again.
