A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Help w frame mods on a 750 Kat to go 1100

darlington

Forum Newbie
I have been assigned the job of building a more modern 1983 Katana 750 and also dropping in an 1100 motor. If anyone has done the motor swap I would love your input on what frame mods are required. Steve 613-283-0159
p.s may aslo have soem original 750 parts for sale ;front end , wheels and motor

When I dropped a 1000cc into my 750 frame - ** note ** all Suzuki 8V - I had to move 2 engine mounts and fabricate one upper front mount bracket.
I assume yours in a 16V engine - If you swap in a 1100 pay attention to this.

The lower mounts on either side
Shifter side - had to remove and re-weld this mount forward about 2"
Brake side - fabricated a longer bracket - cannot move the through bolt holes as they're welding into the frame and the bolts thread into them.

However, the rear x2 mounts - through bolts - and the front upper mounts lined up.
The front upper brackets - the left side needs help as it doesn't line up - my first trial was putting it on the outside of the frame and adding spacers - works but looks like crap so I'm fabricating...
The right side fits fine with no issues.

I can't speak for your exhaust.

No other frame mods were needed for my setup - although I swapped in 2004 GSXR suspension front/rear so the rear mono shock needed help.
Front suspension needed an All Balls bearing kit and bolted right up.

Pic of my build is profile pic and a post around here somewhere...

By chance, do you have a top end for a 1100 8V ???
:nevreness:

I have a top end for a 1100 2V. Email me if interested, I'll dig it out and get a "inventory" of what is there. It's apart and being stored indoors
