A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hmmm...who do we know with an ELR?

That's not for an ELR, but it probably would bolt in

The S1 is a very different machine

Yep, i am aware of that, just figured it would look good wrapped in ELR clothes.
Hopefully it ends up on the track and not in a collection.

It's up to $7k - which is a lot of money for an engine.

You can take a KZ1000J engine, have the crank done, put in lots of cam/carb/compression/headwork, and you'll end up with a 140hp engine, that needs to be torn down after every race too -

It'd be a different story if it was bolted into one of the original S1's -

I know a guy with an ELR... me!;) However, I have no interest in mortgaging my house to buy that engine. I'm sure it is a terrific track engine, but for use on the street, maybe not so much. The idea of push starting the bike because of the race 8 spark plug ignition system is quite unappealing. It will be interesting to see what the engine sells for in the auction. I'll think of what kind of bike I could buy or what kind of engine upgrades I could get done to my bike for that kind of money!

Here is the same type of engine in a KZ1000 S1

Holy Crap ! Twelve grand and there's eight days left. Not to mention the reserve hasn't been met. WTF are these things worth ?

Bet it will take 20 to 25 grand to take that motor home!!!

Believe it or not a KZ1000S1 motor is pretty tractable. You people forget it is a road race motor, not a drag race motor. They have tons of midrange power. You can get a S1 motor to idle at about 1,500 to 1,800RPM.

The cams that came in the S1 motors were only about .400 inch lift. Real close to the Yoshimura Super Bonneville cam specs. Don't know how much more lift and duratioin those Web Cams are that are in that motor. That might make a big difference on how it runs on the bottom end!!!

I remember the magazine article where they were testing Eddie Lawson's '82 Superbike, before it got chopped up for scrap, and they blew up the engine before they could test the brakes. They said that after one race, and some hot laps, that it was tired and needing a rebuild.
