How Fully Floating Are My GSX1100/GS1150 Disks? Good or Bad?

I had a puncture on my newly aquired GSX1100 / GS1150. I have never had any experience of "fully floating disks" before.

So I have one disk that rattles around ("fully floating"?) and the other disk that is rock solid.

What to do?

That one free moving disk is not so much full floating as worn out. generally it is just annoying, but if the movement is so much that there is any danger of the disk coming of the spider, then you have a problem. I had a set of EBC rotors that were similar on both side in that they would clank when rolling backward. I never felt any ill effects, but I eventually bought a set of new Galfer Wave rotors to satisfy any lingering doubts about the reliability of my front brakes.

You have at least one good rotro, so you probably will not be found without any brakes, so you could probably go without for some time to come.

My floating Galfer s are very stiff but they move enough to be floating. These are about the best mortals can buy without getting something euro exotic. I would not worry about the stiff one, it is the Double free floater that should only apply to the monoshock that would worry me more.

Wow, I just looked at mine. Both are tight with maybe the slightest hint of movement. It doest seem to me that they are designed to move much. The inner spider and disc seem to be of the same thickness and the bobbins that hold them together look to be riveted tightly. I wonder if the rivet has worked loose where its mushroomed out on the inside of the disc.
