I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

i want to ship my 1000 engine and i have no clue what it weighs in at....

everything is on it but the starter and carbs of course.....

yup...

200 lbs!!!!!! no friggin way... it was pretty easy for me and my buddy to move it around, i was thinking more like 120 or 150...

are you serious?

man thats heavy

NOT 200. 150 FOR SURE. (oops)

It's a grunt for me to lift it into a wheelbarrow.

A 650G engine with carbs and starter on a pallet: 208 lbs.
Carbs are 2 lbs, starter was 4 lbs, pallet was around 10 lbs.

Your looking at 200 easy.

i would say it weighs around 175 ish....

just wondering if anyone has actually tried weighing one before...

so im gonna have to ship this freight?
whats the best way to ship an engine?

An 1100 engine is 193 lbs. I dont expect a 1000 engine is more than a couple pounds lighter. Add pallet weight and its 200 lbs minimum.

great.... so who can ship this for me? can i just take in the engine to someone and have them put it on a pallet? i have never done this before....

You could but they'll charge you handsomely for it. Better to strap it yourself (onto their pallet if necessary).

You can probably get a pallet from somewhere & try someone like Watkins to pick it up, maybe yellow lines or something. I'd be inclined to build a box over the top of it too.

Dan :)

I'll second the crate idea. Build a plywood box just large enough for the engine to fit in without any wiggle room. Use pieces of 2 x 4 to fill in any empty spaces that could allow it to move inside the box. Attach some 2 x 4 pieces to the bottom to allow the shipper to get a forklift under. Throw a metal band around the top and another around the sides. Or have the shipper band it. Should'nt cost much for that.

sounds like thats what im gonna have to do. i can box it up no problem...

so who should i ship it from? is it worth it to go to fedex or ups? im gonna guess not...

and whats the average cost to ship one?

Cost depends on how far ? I would guess a MINIMUM $125 maybe as high as $200 if your shipping across country

It's much too heavy for UPS. You'll have to deal with a trucking company.

Don't mean to sound stupid here but I've often dragged out a set of bathroom scales to check stuff like that out, if I feel it's under 300 lbs or so.

I used Roadway. They charge a little less for a crated motor but it's a bit of work and wood to make a box. If you find one, great! From Philly area to San Antonio was .89 a pound depot to depot, home pick up and delivery raises the price greatly.

Try FedEx freight, too. I've used them for some machinery and their rates were actually great!

i often use my bathroom scale to check weights, just didnt want to try to lug this one up onto it being its covered in oil and is a lot to handle for me all alone....
