A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I know you guys are getting use to me asking really stupid questions, but I think this one is going to top all the others! First off...as a refresher...my bike is a 1981 450LX.....now for the stupid question.....I got this piece.....it's a black triangular shaped, has 3 holes in it for attaching it to something, on the underside of it, there are these 2 legs with an angle cut on them and this side of the piece has a honeycomb pattern to it....I have searched my Clymer manual, I have googled the part number and I searched the Bikebandit schematics with no luck....so I am asking you guys.....the Suzuki part number is 44500......can anyone tell me what this thing is and where it needs to go.....I have searched the bike over and see no place for it to bolt on.....I am clueless as to what to do with it......

Thanx for any help as usual....

Anita

How big is it, what is it made of, and can we see a photo?

I think I solved the part (no phun intended :)) mystery.

First off I think the part number is OEM#13370-44500.

I found that by going to ASK.COM and typing in suzuki part #44500.

I then went to a link they gave me
http://www.carbkitscapital.com/carb_kit_list_model.php?make=Suzuki&model=GS1100

However that part has nothing to do with a gs450.

I also went to Alpha sports and looked at all the parts and numbers for the
1981 450LX and didn't find that part suffix anywhere.

That part number goes to a float valve.

Soooooooo either the part number is wrong somehow ORRRrrrrr
As everyone else has already said pics would be greatly appreciated.:-\\\

will it dissolve in water? Have you seen any bright lights and silent hovering objects lately?

You guys busted me again! Ok...I got some pictures of this "Piece"...it is smaller than a bread box, made of plastic and it doesn't fit the carb.....

Hope these help to identify whatever this thing is....

Thanx...Anita

Hope these help.....the top one is the outside of the piece, the second one shows the two legs and the third is the underside...

What you have there...

What you have there...

I could be wrong, but judging by the way it has a recessed groove around the outside to mate up to a seal, and the honeycombing to increase strength against deformation from pressure differentials, combined with the two legs which look to be used to keep something spaced at a set distance or pressure, and the accumulated gunk around the honeycombing pattern, but not in the center of them, I would say it is an airbox cover. Likely from another motorcycle, and not yours.

Perhaps your bike had a torrid affair with a honda and kept the piece as a momento?

*EDIT* Upon running a search for Toyo Roki Seizo, the only relevant thing that came up was a vague reference for an air filter patent.

Did the PO have any other bikes kicking around when you bought it? Maybe you can get a hold of them and let them know you will return their airbox cover for the paultry sum of... one billion dollars.

Could indeed be an airbox cover, or.....

Some GS models have a plastic piece that fits over the battery and under the seat. Does it look like it might fit there? The purpose of such a piece is to prevent the seat pan from touching the two battery terminals and heating up your posterior.

it does not look much like it but their is a plastic bit that covers frame by the steering stem
purely cosmetic though

could that be it

fiche makes it lok like a left side only part
