    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I was out running some errands on the GS this afternoon and stopped by the dealer to get an inspection sticker. The mechanic was busy with somebody who had just dropped an 05 busa :oops: so I went out to the showroom eyeballing a few new GSXRS and an M109R that just came in. To my surprise a salesman walked up and asked if that was a GS I was on. I told him yes and he asked if I would mind if he took a look. Of course I agreed and he was very complimentary and even suggested some stuff to help polish up the engine. The mechanic also complimented me, "Damn, thats a fine looking scoot for a '79 model!". I love not being one of the crowd. :-D Just thought I'd share.
 
A few weeks ago I parked mine in front of a local coffee place next to acouple of recent BMWs. Sat down with a cup and a magazine. This 6 foot blonde (no kidding) walks past the BMW guys in their expensive gear, comes up and tells me how she digs my bike and wants to know how long I've had it. This **** happens for real.
 
Ooooh yeah, these bikes are huge chick magnets!
 
I must agree. My brother's 550 gets more attention then my '06 Ninja...........

I know what you mean. I get a lot of compliments on my "old" '79 too.:)
 
I got stuck in traffic today (took almost an hour to go a little over a mile) and got a few more looks. Maybe it was the bike, maybe it was the goofy guy trying to unzip the back vents in his leather jacket while sitting on a bike in traffic, I dunno. :shock:
 
I had a guy on a HD a couple weeks ago, pull alongside while I was stopped at a red light. He looked over and said "85 1150E?" :-) :-) I said sure enough. eheh

He didn't offer to Race You For "Pinks" either Did He?:-D
 
Late last summer I went on a charity ride at a local Dealer. There were over 100 bikes that day and my 80' GS was the oldest bike on the ride. We stopped a couple of times to take a break and I had people coming up to me all day to talk about my bike. Sometimes I think about getting a newer ride, but after days like that I love my old GS even more.\\:D/
 
Happens to me too. If I pull in somewhere where quite a few bikes are mine invariably draws attention. Older longtime riders on new sportbikes will stop by and look mine over and tell what a good job I've done on it.
 
I dont think that was a consideration. LOL Besides, he was twice my size and had his girlfriend on the back (who was also twice my size). LOL

When I stopped at the store this past week I had a guy ask me about my 1100. Turned out he had just gotten his Kawa triple out of storage after 20 years. After getting done with my shopping I found him circling my bike and carried on a conversation of where to have his bike worked on locally. He was knowledgeable enough to know that the local dealerships couldn't do much to get his bike roadworthy. So, I suggested a shop that seems to do work on mainly older bikes. It's amazing what an old GS can bring out in some people. :-D

A few months back I was at the post office and when I came out there was a KZ700 in the parking lot. That was the first one I had ever seen in the flesh. The owner and I talked for awhile about his bike. It was in great shape. He said he had gotten it off of Ebay.
 
I've had a lot of people come up to me on the 1100 and say that it was their dream bike when they were younger. That's cool but the best part has been meeting the guys like Billy, Dan, Don, Tim, Leon, JT, Michael, Rick, Ron, Ryan, Renda, Mark, and many, many others because of my association with the bike and this website.

You guys are too cool!

It's not until you meet people in the flesh that you get a true appreciation for who they are. You have a great family Hap and have every reason to be proud.
 
I have HD guys come up to me all the time and comment on how much "I" dont look like a poser.......... Rideing an OLD bike and STILL loveing the ride!
I have been on so many charity rides that i was the only 4cyl. bike.

Like they say it not what you ride but THAT you ride. Even better when its on a GS!!!!!!!
 
Indeed riding a "older" GS draws looks..
Had my share of thumbs up and positive comments riding the '79

Best time i had was parking it at a "open house" day at Safe Motors Rotterdam last year. Straight across 3 higly polished, metal flaked, chrome plate, turbo'd Busa's, and drawing a bigger (and nicer) crowd :-D
