A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Installation of touchable display control terminal

Forum Newbie
I want to make a kind of display terminal, but I don't know if GS850G can be applied.

The display terminal can provide speed, power, steering information, and additional information such as RTC clock, heading, ambient temperature, a variety of mileage data, etc. On the user through the touch screen to complete the driving mode and personalized lighting settings, and can automatically turn on the lighting system and other functions.

Let my GS850G have the same sense of technology as Tesla's display terminal.

Ambitious sort of fella, aren't you?

Just make sure it's water(weather)proof and can be used with gloves.

Shaved off my neck beard about 15 years ago but have considered doing something similar. I'd bet there's some folks playing around with the Arduino project who have solved a few of these riddles. https://www.arduino.cc/ Then there's Raspberry Pi which my be closer to having an actual working system. https://www.raspberrypi.org/

Yes, I have seen some waterproof LCD and non-waterproof LCD, I just have to choose the waterproof one, but the price will be a little expensive.

The arduino is friendly to amateurs like me, I've fiddled with various microcontrollers and have some familiarity with them all. The Raspberry Pi is a bit more advanced, I've used it and I think maybe I can do it.

cheney, are you just thinking out loud or are you actually going to build this?
It's still an idea, but I want to make it happen as much as possible. I have checked a lot of information on this, the hardware implementation should be barely doable, the focus is on how to implement the communication between the display and the car, maybe I have to change the car.

This looks very small and easy to use, can I just program it with arduino? It looks like a normal LCD not sure if it is touch screen capable.

I've never played with one of them, my thinking was you've already got digital signals within it to pipe into other circuits.

Do you mean it's already programmed?

I've never seen a hack with software included by like I said, it's been a long time. My ideas where to start from scratch, lots of coding involved, more than I was willing to do.
