A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

The new Suzuki GS850G "Dark" a limited edition model.
Tank of fresh gas and a short shakedown ride and the bike runs great. I was hesitant about buying the Sonic fork springs and the Hagon shocks being the rather frugal fellow that I am. We have a street here in town that is in bad need of new pavement and the seams are almost speed bump quality. Suspension upgrades? Glad I spent the money and got the goodies. Amazing how smooth this old bike rides and the engine is scary smooth. Transmission shifts very nicely up or down. I thought I might keep this rescue/rebuild and now I am convinced. This baby stays. No front turn signals installed because I have a nice vintage Wixom fairing and a nice rack/backrest to be installed. New chrome caps for the cam towers on the way and I need the trim for the bottom edge of the seat. A good cleaning and polishing, a few tweaks and my solo tour bike will be ready for an adventure.

Should be a nice ride. I did the same suspension upgrades to mine and I love the ride. Your color scheme is rather unique. I like it.

"Dark".... "limited edition"...?
As in one, custom...?

If I had to guess, I would have said 83, based on the black engine and the black t/signals.
But, okay, I dont see choke lever on handgrip, ... and the petcock... okay

I wasn't sure what color to go with and the fella that painted the parts for me had a pickup truck with these colors on it. I like your truck, take the parts and surprise me. I liked it.

It is an 81. Limited edition because I have the only one like this. I'm too old and beat up to roll around on the ground polishing aluminum and chrome hence the dark treatment on the engine, forks, and rear drive.

I'm on the fence with the colors, but it is a nice looking bike. I hope you're not riding around with the tire stickers still on it.

I like it. :encouragement:

Now ride it over here and get that fuse box cover. :-\\\

.

That sounds like a plan. I want to put a few more close to home miles on it and tidy up a few things.

:) Stickers removed before the first test ride although it almost made it out the gate. My wife asked me if I was going to take the gift wrap off of the tires before I went to the gas station:confused:

Well, I have about 200 "test" miles on the 850 and after a few tweaks and adjustments it is ready to become a productive member of society again. The original Wixom shield was too tall for my taste and rather than trim a perfectly nice 40 year old windshield I took the stock shield that I had in the garage from my 2014 Triumph Trophy and adapted it. Works quite well. I also used a couple of round Honda turn signals in the fairing and have them wired so I can quickly remove the fairing and signals and install the stock ones if I get the urge to ride a nekkid bike. Now to put some miles on the bike. I had planned on Indiana, but my Dr. has other plans for the 14th so that's a no go. I haven't forgot about the fuse cover Steve.

My ride is an 81 also. You won't be unhappy with it at all once it's sorted and set up to suit you.
