• This forum allows conversation on non-controversial topics, therefore no politics or religion. "The Campfire" is an area meant for casual, civil discussions. Deliberate anti-social activity including personal insults, profanity, pornography, racism, threats and purposely inflammatory posts may result in suspension of forum access or possibly a permanent ban from GSR.

The words insight and incite are pronounced the same. But one of them will get you banned and the other will not. Before hitting the Submit button be certain which of the two better describes your post.

    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I have been seeing these things on my phone multiple times every day. The images vary so they apparently come from several entities.

If you take them they ask for payment, your e-mail and personal details for their further use.

In previous years I very rarely saw such things.

Has anyone else had this happening frequently?

I've been seeing them, it's another piece of info that data brokers can add to their marketing products. My bet is those that pay for the results get a higher rating than everyone else does so they can butter them up into selling them some sort of improvement product.

That seems probable.
I took one of the "tests" and answered the questions randomly
While the test was running it kept on telling me that I was faster than some percentage of others, but it insisted on getting an e-mail address before giving test results.

I gave a fake e-mail but it did not provide any more info.

What piqued my curiousity was that at the top of the screen it had a lateral scroll giving flags (presumable of the country where the testee was located) names and scores of those who recently took the test

Out of the fifteen to twenty names I saw on the screen the highest score was 104, and almost half of them were in the 80's.....not very good results.

Well the PROC executed a bunch of Myanmar scam big wigs this week so help is on the way.
a nice but incredibly stupid gal at work did these all the time and got high scores.

Those quickie IQ quizes aren't worth anything more than brief entertainment. lol

If you are using Kellogg's Frosted Flakes that could explain a response coming from Tony the Tiger.

:p

That took me a while...... but I got there eventually :)

Come to think of it, aren't higher order time derivatives on the Rice Krispies box?

Never considered that, but I believe you are correct,.:)

I used to consider posting the boxes on trees with warnings while kids were playing on them:

If you are climbing a tree and hear a crackle, get off before the limb snaps and your drink bottle breaks with a pop when you hit the ground.

I think 80 means can walk and talk, but not simultaneously, and able to spell own name within 3 attempts.

Stretching memory a bit..... probably ten years....... we had an IQ link with a contest about who could use it with the aim of achieving the lowest number.
I do not recall the results but I think Schweisshund managed something less than 80.

I was joking in my prior post. lol

An IQ of 80 indicates "
low average" or "borderline intellectual functioning," placing an individual below the median but above the threshold for intellectual disability. Functionally, this means slower learning rates, potential difficulties with complex abstract reasoning, and a preference for concrete, practical tasks over theoretical concept.

Isn't that why forum is here? Does keeping an old motorcycle running make us stupid? There's a bit to be said in favor of the bliss of ignorance!

I'm not

Isn't the term "Ignorance is bliss" a concept?
