    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is my chain too tight?

I did the 630 to 530 chain and sprocket swap on my 82 1100E I used 18 front and 50 rear and 530Xring DID chain everything went together fine but I am thinking my chain may be too tight.
on the center stand and in the bottom center of the chain I have about 1/2" up and 1/2"down and the rear wheel is as far forward as it will go. It just seem very tight. I am sure it will loosen some after being on the road for awhile but just how much I am not sure. So what do you all think ? am I being to anal or do I have a problem?
 
1/2" on center stand seems way too tight, both wheels on ground. you sitting on seat, should be appx 1/2 to 3/4". It tightens up a lot when you roll it off the center stand, even more with your wgt. on the seat...Just my opinion

Yes that is what I was thinking. I will have to run 2 master links in order to take care of this. Its funny that when I hooked the master link on the chain there seemed to be plenty of slack.
 
If you are asking, it probably is.....
When you go over a sharp bump and your wheel comes up high into the fender, the chain tightens due to the geometry of the swing arm axis and the engine drive sprocket....It's an interesting exercise to take your shocks off and lift the wheel to see how much....it'll be tightest when the swing arm is exactly straight to the engine sprocket and slacker either up or down but most bikes sit with the swing arm "down" abit....also, chains wear differently along their length. Check the slack again when you turn the rear wheel to a few different spots and adjust slack at the tightest...

Tsubaki used to make a "half link". Might be beneficial to you...
