A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Is this a Good/Best Battery Deal?

I have to replace my GS1000 battery and I was searching previous Threads on batteries and I ran across this link that GSJohn inserted a couple weeks ago in the Thread "Simple Battery Questions"

Here's another place that has AGM
http://www.gruberpower.com/gruberpow...-YTX14l-BS.asp

This looks like a great deal but I am always surprised because someone always seems to come up with a better deal. Any comments.

Thanks in advance.

$20 cheaper than at Batteries Plus (less any shipping)

Because of the charger that is a great deal. In fact unless somebody finds something better I'll probably order one from there.

Sold out, at least the model in the link.

I just bought a "Powersonic" brand AGM battery from http://www.septechnologies.biz/

for $54.00 with free shipping

Not as good a deal as yours but pretty decent.

However, I just checked and they raised the price to $66.85 so maybe they figured I got too good a deal!

Bike Bandit sells the Yuasa AGM battery for $59.30 - in stock with reasonable shipping. Just ordered one.:)

...and a free charger to boot.

I would not call that a good deal.

<billion blank lines snipped>
I would call that a GREAT deal. \\:D/

.

I dunno ...

I thought that the battery was a great price with or without the charger.

But I thought the charger itself was suspect.

As far as I can tell, it's an unregulated trickle charger.

They can in some circumstances (IMHO very limited) be useful, but they can also easily damage batteries.

I'll also add here (VERY SPECULATIVE, and fairly limited info to back it up):
that if a trickle charger manages to raise the voltage high enough, it can destroy a rectifier/regulator, just like jumping from a running car can.

So buy the battery, but be careful about the charger.

I also saw they were sold out, so I called them to be sure. Jeff, the guy I talked to said they had 7 on the shelf. I ordered 3 of them, then found s/h for the 3 was $45. I figured $42 + $15 per battery = $57. I really didn't need the charger anyway. I figure I'll just get one from Wal-Mart $5 more, but at least I can take it back if I need to.

The Yuasa YTX14AHL-BS is $55 at BiikeBandit, and if you're an AMA member, you get a 10% discount. It's their best battery. I just ordered one, and it arrived in about 2 days, $60 delivered.

Now that's a good deal. I've never seen a genuine Yuasa that cheap.

Yeah, I called Gruber and spoke with Jeff @ Ext 311. I purchased one and Gruber charged me $12 for shipping from AZ to CO. I don't really need the charger either but $55 is still reasonable even with the inflated s&h charge.
