Yes, the Corbin is firm, but it is shaped very well, as in there aren't any hot spots. The whole seat issue seems to be a very individual preference. Here's a good story of a guy who did a very demanding Iron Butt ride on a C14 with a Corbin. He supplemented the Corbin with an Airhawk as well. Here is a photo of mine with the Corbin. Notice that it is a heated seat, that doubles the cost of the thing... but someone had to have it! (not me). The only other things I did to it was to install some bar risers and a larger more useful luggage rack. (This photo has the stock rack)

Ahhh Diablo Black! I was looking at a black one as well but the liquid metal blue tugged my heart strings more... That's one thing about this bike that people seem to do... Change for preference not for upgrade and it's all based on personal opinions. I need to install a givi monokey plate so I can use my 49L top case. I want handle bar risers and I think if the wind screen was only a few inches taller it would be perfect, so a V-stream is likely in the cards. I love the seat, just need to get some air under my bum and I would be confident I could do 500 mile days without breaking a sweat!

I bought my luggage rack from here - http://www.philsfarkels.com/ I'm sure you can get the fittings to mount the Givi to it as well. It is a strong high quality component, for sure.

Eventually you will look to add a Goldwing (maybe not) to the stable -
I LOVE my GS850 - it is fun to ride and relaibale and unique --
But I will ALWAYS have a Goldwing in the garage as well.
The Connie is a fabulous bike and capable of anything you want to do and two up is no issue.
I have always liked the styling of the sport tourers but my big fat belly likes the wide open space of the Wing a bit more than the sit in the frame sportys.
Plan a long trip and go have a lot of fun !
Come my way and I'll buy lunch :biggrin-new:

HAHA, I took the bags off last night and scooted around, The bike is ridiculously fast for it's size, power is so smooth but pulls so hard after 60pmh, IT doesn't slow it's acceleration down a bit before 120mph... Handles just as well, brakes are even better.

The little lady and I did entertain the idea of a Goldwing, She shot it down for it was too big and (she said it not me) it's an old man bike. Since the new bike was going to be a bike we can both enjoy (and I can ride daily) The Kawi won out. I will likely own a Wing one day, Not yet though...
I love this bike, 700 miles on it since Saturday afternoon. It's an all day ride and find myself riding twice the distance as before.

A ride up route 14... Awesome day for it, bike ran like a top! Views were stunning!

I'd love to make my way out to you guys this year... We will see but my summer is looking pretty full from here till September . I Plan on going to Brown County GSR rally next year. That's a fact!

IT's worth the extra buck to get a bike like this if you do allot of 2 up or long distance traveling... Keep it to your self, I told my Girl about the sport touring class, next thing you know we both are looking at bikes together. IT's allot of fun to tie 2 things I love together.

Somehow, I knew she would be a lot more comfortable on that bike than the BKing. I had the way back '86 Connie but it was top heavy and a tall bike for my liking. Nice looking bike you got. Here's my pic of your bike's grandfather...

Sounds good. I'm sure over the years it's been refined and better balanced. Don't get me wrong I took my old Connie for a few longer trips and it was a good sport bike that did 100mph on the NY Thruway effortlessly but around town and moving it in the garage was another issue.

I had an 86 Connie for a little bit and it was top heavy... I dropped it when someone cut me off in heavy traffic... The sound of air brakes was the last sound I heard after I hit the ground. Look behind to see a garbage trucks bumper inches from the rear of the bike. Sold it real fast after that. Shame for it was a great long distance runner. But full tank of gas and going through town... Ugh forget about it!

This one is completely different, in every way minus having a shaft drive and the same name. Handles more like a common sport bike then it's top heavy "Grandpa". The Torque is always abudent and so smooth, thanks to the VVT system. Im really enjoying it. 1k miles on it so far and no complaints. It's heavy, but not much heavier then the BK. And it's well ballenced and once moving seems to loose it's weight real fast. ABS is also awesome, bike stops real fast in a controlled manner.

Maybe I'll see you at the Green Mountain rally this year Steve? Shan and I have been talking about taking you up on that offer, have to try out those wines . I think she's going to tag at least 1 night this year for the rally. Hope to see you soon regardless.

Yeah I know, I'm sure I'm a "disappointment" to some. I was so excited about the bike but the 3K miles in 10 days was so rough, I don't ever want to ride on a bike like that again BUT I WANT TO RIDE THAT LONG AGAIN!... The pain in my back and derriere still are very fresh in my mind and oddly come right back after a quick 50 mile jaunt now, Phantom pains???... I look at the bike and think, I really don't want to go for a ride, then I hop on the FZ1. I can't have a bike like that in the stable. Especially one I invested a good chunk of change to be my daily ride and long distance runner.
I'm a bit disillusioned myself however I feel I'm going to get a bigger bang out of my buck with a more comfortable, long distance sport touring machine, especially one that my SO and I can both really enjoy together. Not be in pain together... The BK passenger seat is a torture device, 70 miles was our range before she hurt so bad we had to go home. We can ride hundreds of miles on the FZ1.

Well, HP is nice, farkles and bling are nice, being the latest and greatest with the biggest whistles is nice and everyone loves talking and bragging points, but when all is said and done, none of that is worth anything if you can't ride it. My definition of being able to ride it is being able to sit on it ten hours a day or 500 miles on consecutive days and not ache.
My CBR929 was like the BKing, good for 30 minutes or 30 miles, whichever came first and then it was time to put it back in the garage because if I rode it longer than that, I would not be walking around the next day.

Congrats on the Connie. I think we have arrived at the same conclusion. My only range limitation with the B12 is how long I can stay awake.
