    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

JT Sprocket Diferrences ?

So I have most of what I need together for my last for a while bike NEED. I have another question though. On the Z1 site and a couple of other places I have seen the JTR 816 as 47 or 48T and as 47 tooth and 48 tooth.

Odd thing is the one with a clear T designation are half the price but I cant seem to find any material difference. Thought one might be aluminum but ??? I cant figure it out.

What is the difference between these 2

hmmmmm That is what I thought but .. Is it made by emgo or is it a JT with emgo markings. I get confused because they are using the same Number (jtr816)

I dont care whose name is on it I just want a quality piece that will last and if I can save a few bucks .. happy day!
 
I'd stick with the JT sprocket, but then again I've never used an Emgo sprocket. Everything else Emgo sells is pretty hit-or-miss; some stuff is great, some stuff is dreadful. (They're sort of the Harbor Freight of motorcycling.)

JT sprockets are made in Taiwan and are well-known to be high-quality and long lasting. (And then again, maybe Emgo is great and lasts forever. I dunno.)

I did go ahead with genuine JT. Its a little hard to tell because a few online and ebay sellers call out the emgo as genuine JT and use their images. If it werent for the big price difference I wouldnt be able to tell the difference.

It took my HOURS to suss out what I needed and wanted and all the math you guys helped me with was perfect but here is a little note to anyone else going to do their chain and sprockets.

I was looking at Kits because of the ease of having someone else figure out what I might need but I was able to get all the same parts included in the kits and buy a rivet tool and the locking washers and paid about $50 less than just a kit with 2 sprockets and a chain buy purchasing all the parts individually. Its work and took me a bit but if you have the time ... shop it.
 
You could call Z1 and inquire. If they're selling it I doubt it's a crap part.
 
Not sure if this is germain to the discussion but sprocket shape varies with different vendors. I prefer the style with the rectangular cut outs vs. circle cutouts and don't mind paying more.
 
Germain or not I think that is interesting as hell! Is it an aesthetic thing or is there some geometry/strength thing weighing your decision. I am genuinely curious now! ☺
