A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Katana 2019 and 1984 side by side

John Kat

Forum Sage
I took a picture of my 1984 Kat next to the latest model from Suzuki.
The dealer let me ride the new bike and of course it's a whole new world.
The chassis is much "tighter"without beeing harsh, the brakes are phenomenal and there is a lot of power.
The riding position is exactly the opposite to the old model, you sit very close to the handlebars that seem ridiculously high.
A very good bike for sure but no match for my KTM 1290 R...

Really nice, both of them.
You know, you may get have an opportunity here, if you are a photographer or know someone who is, contact the dealer and do some glamour shots of the two bikes together, I bet that they wouldn?t mind especially if you gave them some printed copies that are frame sized. I just think it?s a really cool opportunity and they would be able to use it as a selling point.

Just my opinion.

Nice! Thanks for sharing the photo.

As weird and out-there as the early Katanas were when they first came out (love em or hate em)..they were actually a prelude to today's modern sportbike design. I always thought they were cool, and they certainly paved the way to today's styling.

Very nice to hear! Hope my local dealer gets one in so I can test ride it! If the price wasn't so expensive for what is basically is the same exact thing as a GSX-1000S I would be interested in one. $13K 150hp should be a nice bike I just hope it sells well.

So I figure I'll mount the radar on the right side and the anti-aircraft guns on the left.

Do seem a little old, though. Always thought that was the kind of stuff late teens and early twenties did. I was a mere 57 last time I pulled that kind of stuff.

Actually planning on pedaling my ten-speed to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles tomorrow to register Suzi. I do kind of wonder how I'll behave once she's back on the road. Maybe they'll just save everyone some trouble and slap the cuffs on me as soon as I walk in the door. :p
