The ADV Monster has been excellent, I fully endorse it without hesitation or any regret. I'm sure there are similar and even cheaper options available now but this one is bright, well made and a good value.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.
Hey guys, any updates on this thread? Looking to switch to LED for my 82GS1100GK to cut down on amp draw and get better visibility on these crazy LA freeways..
Not sure whether to go with Truck Light, ADV monster LED or if there is something better on the market now? Looking at these, not sure how they stack up..

I just bought a GS650G and would like to replace the incandescent headlight with either halogen or LED. However I’m concerned about stressing the wiring, since I assume since the LED takes less power, the surplus must now return via the known to be weak R/R.

Well, the good news is that you probably already have a halogen light. I say "probably" because the bike is 35 years old and you are not the original owner. So let's just say that it left the factory with a headlight that uses an H4 bulb.I just bought a GS650G and would like to replace the incandescent headlight with either halogen or LED.
Yes, the LED does draw a bit less power. Quite a bit, in fact. If you are at all concerned about your charging system, you should also look into upgrading to an SH775 R/R, which will handle the charging just fine. Just like the LED lights, you have to be very careful when shopping for one. There are a LOT of knock-offs with very careful wording in the ads that lead you to believe you are getting an SH775, but they are last year's technology in this year's package, making them no better than what you have in the bike now.... I?m concerned about stressing the wiring, since I assume since the LED takes less power, the surplus must now return via the known to be weak R/R.
Should I be concerned?
The Truck-Lite will fit in there perfectly. What LED will fit a GS shell?
I have not seen ANY stock light that will light up the road "when leaned over". :-kFor me, I don't like the GE/Phillips set up....the one with the mid vertical divider....shows too flat a cut off line on the road...spevially when leaned over.
The reflector/lens assembly is designed to put a proper pattern on the road that is based on the light source (tungsten filament) being in a precise position. If the LED source is not in that exact position, the pattern on the road will be different, and could actually be dangerous.
I occasionally wonder as well. Interesting cat he was. Likely rode off into the sunset on his Sportster.
His last check-in was over a year ago, 3/29/2017.Side note: What ever happened to Rob S.?
