A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Left turn signal fires both rear turn signals and front left signal.

Forum Newbie
Hi all new to working on bikes just picked up a 1981 Suzuki gs450l and have been putting it back together. Been able to find all my other questions on here but I'm having a odd problem that has stumped me. When the right turn signal is on it fires the right two turn signals while when the left signal is on it fires the front left and both the rear turn signals. They are aftermarket trailer turn signals but I don't think that they are the problem. If anyone has experienced anything like this before I would appreciate some feedback! If there is a thread about this that I have missed please link it.

Rogue turn signals are commonly caused by a bad ground at one of them.
If they're aftermarket ones, there may be a bad connection or bulb holder in one of them, especially if they're trailer turn signals which I've found are nasty things.

How about original blinkers ?
A decent 2nd hand set should not be expensive.

The only problem I've heard from LED turn signals was blinkers not flashing. I don't want to say it can't happen, just I've not heard of it.

IIRC it's about power from the cockpit indicator lamp.
That's connected to both L/R turn signals.
Not enough to light a regular turn signal lamp but enough for a LED.

Fitting a diode, or disconnecting the cockpit indicator lamp should solve that.

Think there's guys here that can explain this more accurately ..

Well, my cockpit indicator lamps (instrument turn signal lamps) don't seem to be connected to both L/R turn signals. I think I have one cockpit indicator lamp for the left side and a separate one for the right.

Yes, I think it says if you have "only one" indicator for turn signals, in your instrument cluster. All the bikes I've had have had one for each side (two total). I can't find it now, but within the last couple weeks, someone here, but in another thread has ordered a flasher for LED's, hoping it will be a Plug N Play for our GS's. Hoping we can find a good one.
