A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Long haul bike shipper

I know I've seen a recommended shipper for reasonable cost coast to coast or other long distance shipping of bikes but I can't find anything by search feature. Anyone?

I contacted a guy with a van (like he lives in his van and does this for money) who took my bike from WV to FL and back when gsrick had offered to reassemble it.

He was inexpensive and he got the job done, I'll say that.

I don't know if he's still around, but six3six, four8four, fouroh3four and his name is Chris.

I used this one https://motorcycleshippers.com to ship mine in 2008, they did a phenomenal job with the ship. I had it shipped (actually my wife had my bike shipped) from Portland Oregon to my house here in Pearland, Texas which is a suburb of Houston. They have a tracker so you know pretty much every minute where your bike is at all times, they strap it onto a shipping pallet and cover it with a motorcycle cover. If you want it, they also have shipping crates that they will sell.
Anyway, I highly recommend them and if I ever ship another, these are the people I will use again.

On a side note, uship is not my favored way of shipping. There are many that have had good luck and good experiences while using uship but, I tried using them to ship a Z-71 step side pickup from Lawton Oklahoma to my house in Pearland, it was an absolute nightmare!!!!! After they had me pay up front, they promised me the truck would be delivered in a couple days, it wasn't. They kept changing the drivers and all kinds of other problems. After dealing with delays for a couple months, I finally ended up hauling my own trailer to Oklahoma, loaded the truck onto the trailer then, fifty miles into the return trip home, I ran into problems with my van, ended up stranded with my truck on the trailer so then, the uship people contacted me again with more stories, this time I told them the truck is loaded on a trailer already and all they had to do is deliver the truck on that trailer to my house and I would call it even, that's the only way the truck ended up at my house. Because of that bad experience, I do not recommend using uship for anything at all, I would rather pay a couple hundred dollars more to keep from going through that hell again.

This was the Readers Digest version of everything that happened, it was a nightmare!!!!! Never again, never again, never again!!!!

Uship is the uber of the shipping world, common people go out and buy a truck or trailer and then decide they are in the shipping business. All I can say is, if you decide you want to use uship, do some research first, there are lots of scary stories out there about them. https://www.transportreviews.com/Company/Ushipcom and that's just one, there are many more.

Uship is just ebay for shipping, putting people together with no skin of their own in the game except ebay has much better customer service. I have known many to use uship, not one time have I heard everthing went smoothly, always some kind of hinky type thing going. I would recommend to no one.

motorcycleshippers.com quotes coast to coast (new york to california) for 800 on an average size bike, I think this is pretty fair.

I had good luck with these guys http://www.shipbikesright.com/home.html going from SOCAL to FL.
