Got a set of 1150 (36mm) carbs on my 1100. Got the main jet and needle dialed in but now to the pilot circuit.
45 is stock on these carbs with a 120 air jet. These WERE California carbs that had four air nipples that led into the carb body on the engine side of the butterflies. They went to a cannister that now obviously doesn't exsist. These are capped off.
The CA carbs came with a stock 120 air jet and the non-CA came with a 125. The non-CA had these capped off as I do and this is why I think the CA models came with a 120 air jets cause they did allow some air into the venturi.
I can't seem to get the bike to idle under 1500 rpms. I tried the 47.5 pilot jet and the 50 which under 1500 rpms would rich out and die. I put the 45s back in and are going to try them in the morning but last time were lean. I have the idle mixture screws out 5 turns to get it started and will see if I can get a decent idle.
I almost bought a set of four 130s on the air jets from Motorcyclecarbs.com. Does anyone have an opinion on this size? I would hate to order the wrong size online.
On my 1100 before head mods I had to go up ten on the air jets from 160 to 170 and it idled perfectly. With the anti-pollution nipples blocked off and those carbs (non-CA) came with a 125 maybe I should start with a 135.
Maybe I should try pulling the caps off the carbs and try other combos. I'd hate to do this and let unfiltered air into the engine.
