Had not been able to much on the bike until yesterday when Rob came over to lend a hand. We put gas in her and she fired up!! Sounded pretty good that Yosh pipe did... Yeah!! But some leaking from the carbs so gonna have to find out what's going on there. We know that averything is working ok lights, etc. So tonight I started putting the frame for the fairing and the fairing on. So get the carbs sorted out and should be able to take it out for a ride.

Looking good Trevor ! I'm looking forward to seeing a video of it so I can hear that Yosh pipe too. :)

So I got the bike back together but needed help with carb issues (shocking, I know) so I got my bike mechanis guy to have a look at it. I also don't feel confident in riding something that has not been looked at by someone who really knows what they are doing. And since Rob (AZR) who has been helping me is with Charlie and the boys, I had the mechanic take a look. It's running!! Iy still has some sputtering going on. I know there is some old gas in there, so hoping that's part of it. I still need to do a few things to it...needs an engine frame mount that is miissing:eek: and need dust boot covers for brakes etc etc..But I did get to ride it and it sounds great! So far after buying the bike for $600 and doing quite few things to it and replacing some miissing parts, paying some labour, I have about $1350 in to it. Not quite done though..

Decided to take my bike to work today and got a few miles down the highway from my house and all of a sudden my gauges started dropping down. I soon realized it was the whole fairing dropping. Here I am going down the highway at 55mph and I have one hand on the throttle and the other I'm holding up my fairing in place. When i got pulled over I saw that the top bar of the frame for the fairing had snapped! A passer by gave me some rope and I tied it up and got it home. I think my 750 wasn't happy about my going out on the 'new' bike and sabotaged it.:p
So gonna have a look to see if I can weld it or I know where I can get a new frame. Argghh

It is kind of funny, but only because you're OK! Weird things like that can be disastrous! Teething problems... hope you get thing sorted out so we can go for a ride together soon.

I can see Janice looking at you and shaking her head!:D

Well I found what caused the frame brace at the top to breack. I'm embarrassed to say it was because I had not put in 4 other bolts that were mid way through the fairing, therefore putting too much stress on the top part of the frame of the fairing.:o:o So I will off to get it welded. Good lesson here for me..slow down and double check!

Good to see it almost done, you can bring it down for next years rally

Sounds like you need AZR to move in for a while

LOL...yeah AZR has been a saviour in the restoration of this bike. There is NO WAY I could have done it without him! He really knows his way around a motorcycle. If this nursing thing he does doesn't work out he could make a living just fixing my bikes. Mind you I only pay him in beer. :p Gonna take the fairing apart (again) tonight and see aboult getting it welded in town.

I agree you need to make it down next year.

Charlie I will putting it on my calander for next year for sure! You guys look like you had a lot of fun. And I like fun!:D And I will bring the 1150 but who knows that's a whole year away, the way I'm going I will have a couple more to choose from. Just kidding NO MORE!:p

A little up date...I got the frame welded for my fairing and got it put back together over the weekend.I do have some carb issues to work out as I'm getting some stumbling at 5000-6000rpm. I hope I have located an airbox as I think it will be easier to get it running properly than trying to do it with the pods. And man does that Yohi pipe sound awesome!!:D Went for a little ride after I gave her a bath.

Bike looks good, how are yoru carbs set up for that Yoshi?
I cant quite tell, but is that the Race Yoshi that comes right under the belly with over sized down tubes?

You should probably be running about 140 Mikuni mains with DJ Kit needles at 3 grooves.

Thanks, the pipe I don't think is a race yoshi and the mains I'm using are 138s. Not sure where the needles are at as I had a bike mechanic buddy do the carbs. I will find out soon enough though. I am running pods because the airbox was missing. I hopefully will have a box coming soon so I can tune it properly.
