DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

My crash story

Glad you're doing okay better Andy. I pray everyone on here takes note and spends a little more attention at those people making left hand turns. Slow down, flash your lights, change position in the lane, do something!

Good luck

Good luck

Andy, glad to here you are ok after such a hard crash. We should all ride like ever other vehicle out there is trying to kill us. Your story is a wake for all of us that like to ride. Hope you recover soon and all go well for you. Best of luck!

I still have a long road ahead of me. With the help of the members of the GSResource that have shown the support and careing in my time of ill repair, it will be a short trip.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.:-D IT REALLY HELPS!!

That's one of the most powerful things I've learned with our little corner of the internet. The never-ending care for our members. Heal up well and do what's best for you and yours, Andy.

I'm sticking this thread until Andy gets healthy once again. Watch out for those cages that are always looking to take you out with a last minute left hander. Damn, that sucks. And Andy, I wish you a speedy recovery!

Glad to see you are still with us Andy.... Since you are in my neck of the woods.......Anytime in the future you want to take a spin on the 'Tuna , I'd be happy to oblige. Get well Soon....

Checking in late, Andy but I echo everything you've "heard" already. I consider myself fortunate to have avoided any major mishaps, and your story is an added reminder to be ever vigilant. Brad was on his way home from my place when the drunk took him out, and when I found out my heart sank and I experienced a chilling, sickening feeling in my gut ... Seeing your bike brought it all back, and there is no better reminder than that. I'm sorry you had to experience such a violent crash, but I'm glad you survived and will recover!!

If there's one thing we can learn it's to never let our guard down in order to minimize the risks as much as possible. Everything in life worth doing has risks, but the odds are in our favor if we stay alert. I hope you will find the strength to get back on a bike and find enjoyment in it. I also hope your recovery is fast and as pain-free as possible!

Best Regards,

Andy,

Let me know when you are ready to try and ride again. I will load up a bike, haul it up there, and you can give it the ol' college try. I had a bad accident in '85...it took me three years before I could overcome my fears and ride again and my accident was not as bad as yours.

Been away since Friday the 4th. Glad to see your still with us Andy. The bike looks scary. I almost had the same thing happen when I was a teen only the left hand turner was behind a truck in front of her. She could not see me and I could not see her until she was across my lane! Somehow, by the grace of God, I managed to get out of it without a scratch. Looking at your bike makes me realize all over again how blessed I am. It is good to hear your going to walk again soon. Thanks for sharing your story despite the pain, it DOES help the riding community buddy! Get well soon.

This is the first I've seen this post. I got chills (and pain in some areas) reading the story. Combined with looking at the pictures, I'd say you you are one tough guy to make it through. Ride again? Certainly your call. If it was something you loved, I would give it another go when you are ready physically and mentally. I know it was a bit shakey for me getting back on after going down (three times total, none any where near as bad as yours) but, I just sort of took my time and took it as it went.

A girl on her learners permit...unbelievable. Hopefully she goes for quite some time unable to get a license.

How "western" NY are you? I'm in Syracuse a few times a year. Maybe I could come by sometime and have a beer or something?

Andy:
Wow!.... Sorry to learn of your accident but glad to know that you survived the ordeal and I wish you a speedy recovery. Thanks for sharing that unfortunate and painful experience. We all learn from these tragic reminders.
All the best man, but try riding again when you are up to it, then make the decision that's right for you.
Cheers, Cletus

Wow sorry to hear about your accident. I hope your recovery goes well and you have some hot physical therapists. That always helps.

I have a few questions about the accident but I will wait until you have more time to recover and get everything in perspective. Stay strong and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Hello fellow GS'ers,

Just a quick update. Its been about 3 weeks since my last post. I have ditched my walker\\:D/ , I still use my crutches sometimes, I can hobble around for about 3 hours or so, still working at regaining my past endurance. I am doing PT 3x per week and getting stronger by the day. I am almost ready to jump back in the saddle. My head says yes, my leg and hip tell me to waite a little while longer. I hope to try again before the snow flies. Once again thank you all for your kind words and support.

Since you are at the advanced age of 40, and fast coming up on total mind and body breakdown, you really must pay attention to the hip and leg.

I don't know what I would do if it happened to me at such an ancient age.:?

Let's look on the plus side: at age 40 you are approaching senility, so the past events will soon be forgotten........and you can ride like a kid again!!!:-D

From the appearance of the bike, you came out fo this fairly well. Keep up the efforts to improve your body.

The mind will get needed assistance from the GSR members. Be assured, many of us have been down that road. We may not have liked it at the time, but we still live, and we still love to ride. :)

Great to hear you are doing well!
Thanks for the update and speedy recovery to you!

Andy, how ya doing?

Weather is prolly getting nasty in upstate NY. Hopefully your rehab will continue over the winter. When the snow melts, maybe you'll be ready to ride again!

I want you to know I think about you every day. That's because I'm always confronted by the "left-turner" whenever I ride. Gotta stay dilligent.

Andy
