A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Spiff,

Your photo of the brake line is a nice graphic example of why we should change our old brake lines. Now I just need to make the time to get done.

Yes, you need to make the time. Totally worth it, before I could pull the lever almost all the way in to the handlebar. Very spongy, now i can use two fingers on the brake and stopp in an instant! Very little travel, it was actually a little difficult to set the stop light switch right because of the little amount of travel before the brakes activate...

Im in the market... where did you pick yours up?
I picked them up from a guy on ebay: http://stores.ebay.com/motorsporttoolsuk
Part Number front: SU0752-3FC
Part Number rear: SU0752-1RC

Shipping took an extra week to ten days because they weren't in stock so goodridge had to make them. But I had time to wait, besides, our bikes are old so we can't demand that everything should be in stock either :)

I've started to paint now!

Unfortunately it looks a little flat and dull here, it's better in real life. Waiting for the second coat to harden now then I'll sand it down with 1200grit before I apply stickers and clear coat.
However I see it's a little bit darker than expected so I'm not sure if it'll go well with the orange stripe. It'll look good with the gold but the bright orange I'm not that sure!

I have also drained my tank so it's ready for the bill hirsch tank sealer kit :)
Then it'll get repainted too.

Wow... great color!! It doesnt look dull in the slightest. Orange will make it sporty... gold will make it classy. Haha.

Never heard of bill hirsch, is it as good as POR-15?
I don't know, but the place I got it sold both, at the same price. Now they only sell hirsch. It's probably good ;)

Today I have wetsanded the paint before I applied the clearcoat, waiting for it to cure now :)

I have also sanded down the back fairing and applied decals, have to wait 2 days before I can apply the clearcoat!
I think I will use both the orange and gold as It didn't look as bad as I thought it would :P

Hot damn.... THAT looks great! Sporty/Classy indeed... hahaha. Is that pic of the tail before clear? Are you using 2k Urethane?

Yes the tail is before clearcoat, I have to wait a minimum of two days before applying the clear because the decals need to be absolutely dry and free of moisture... :)

No I'm just using ordinary rattlecans sadly...

here are the sidecovers, tailpiece will be painted today. Then I can start on the tank. And if I get my seat back soon then the bike is basically all done.

some are with flash some aren't

Youre a man after my own heart... I wish we could park our bikes next to each other when theyre done...

Thanks :)

Here's the rear cover with clear, waiting for it to cure. Tomorrow I can put it back on :)

And I assure you the stripes are not pink and light brown even though they may appear too :P

I also removed the rusted and scarred turn signal bracket and fixed it up real nice with some fresh paint, wish my frame was this nice :P

And finally I have started to work on the tank, I should have started weeks ago but i guess it's better late than never ;)
