    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Does CEROSIN is good for cleaning carburator
after all the o-ring are out?
 
Dunno what compound that is, but the safest bet is simply to buy a spray can of carbie cleaning fluid. ;-)
 
If you're not taking the carbs completely apart, then a spray can is about the best you can do.

If you're doing a full blown cleaning though, a carb dip like Berryman's is much stronger and does a better job....even comes with a little tray you can put your pieces in. Its nasty stuff but works very well.....you can get it at Auto Zone and other auto parts stores.

Don't know about the product you're asking about.
 
Do you mean kerosine...as in light weight diesel fuel? If so, I wouldn't suggest it. Its' a bit too heavy and has too much oil base in it for a good cleaner. It works great for breaking up rust in an engine if it's stuck...even better if you blend in some Marvil Mystery Oil, but as a carb cleaner, you want things clean, not lubed up.
 
I think the proper spelling is kerosene.

Dried up gas residue is pretty tough stuff so a specialized carburetor cleaning fluid is preferred over general-purpose solvents.

Sorry Dave but I wasn't correcting your spelling, rather, that of the origional poster. You posted your response while I was typing thus my post is somewhat redundant.
 
LOL....Funny, I did the Exact same thing to you about a week ago...I think it was "cam chain tension" if I'm not mistaking?
 
Hmmmm...let's take a look at this shall we. The thought that was contrived was in the present tense. I may have been mistaking that thought, for another. In retrospect, had the thought been one that occured in past tense, ie. "I must have been mistaken", I surely would have been mistaken, as Guy was.

Thanks for that little journey down the "technical writing 405" road, it has been awhile. :-D
 
People post here from all over the world, so we have American, Irish, British, and Aussie spellings (not to mention Caribbean and Canadian dialects), plus plenty of people who normally speak in some other language. And then there are those who type perfect English, but are still nearly impossible to understand...:-D :-D

Back to the original question...

Kerosene (as it's spelled here in the USA) won't hurt carbs or o-rings. It also won't do any good -- kerosene won't do much to dissolve deposits and varnish left by old gasoline.

To do a proper job of cleaning, you must totally disassemble the carbs, remove all plastic and rubber parts, and soak the metal parts in some very nasty toxic chemicals.

If you'll let us know where you are on this big blue planet, someone can probably tell you what's available in your area.
