A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I've aquired a new project bike - 1982 GS650G, with less than 5k on it!

However, it's been stored outside for a while (only in summer), & needs a bit of spit, polish & a good carb cleaning. Haven't gotten a manual yet, but I was hoping someone here knows the following specs:

- valve clearances
- Spark plug gap
- Carb float height (both static & fuel level)
- Points gap
- timing

That info should get me going in the right direction!

Thanks for any input,

Mike

valve clearance is 0.03 to 0.08mm, 0.001-0.003 in. the spark plug gap is0.024-0.028in. recommended plugs are ngk D8EA or ND X24ES-U, good luck finding those! Ignition timing is non-adjustable and preset.Timing is 10 degrees btdc below 1,550-1.750 rpms and 40 degrees above at 3,400-3600 rpms Idle speed 1,000 to 1200 rpms. carb float height is 21.4mm-23.4mm or 0.84-o.92 in. without the float chamber gasket.Reduce the measurement 1mm if the gasket is still installed. This all was taken right out of the clymers manual.

Thank you VERY much. That info will allow me to get started on this bike. She doesn't run at the moment, but I think I'm going to have fun bringing her back to life!

listen to nissem he is right.Get a manual and alos look up carb cleanup series on this sight.Follow it exactly and your bike will run like a top!take your time and also come here for questions on anything. Theses guy's or myself will be glad to help.

PM me and I will e-mail you with a pdf file containing a complete parts list/microfische all nicely bookmarked. I usually refer to this first then to my Clymers Manual, when I have to do anything on my bike.
