I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Ive got an 85 gs450L I'd like to customize with out ruining. Its got 7700 original miles and is in excellent mechanical condition and good condition appearance wise. I like bobbers and rat bikes but its to nice of a bike to cut up. I just want to set it apart from the other gs bikes I see. Any suggestions are welcome.

I'll keep that in mind. I was thinking more along the lines of custom paint and maybe swaping in some spoke wheels. The only body parts that are in rough shape are the fenders (the PO did a poor attempt at bobbing them but luckily left the frame untouched) so im going to need some replacements.

the choice is yours really, its your bike with your ideas. if you swap wheels and give it a nice paint job it will stand out from the rest, although there are hundreds of GS's out there with different wheels and pain jobs.
main thing is it will turn out how YOU want it to, not what other people think it should look like.

Any suggestions on fenders I haven't checked Ebay yet but you dont find alot of L fenders here in Tennessee.

I saw a interesting pic in a thread in the last year where a person had taken a curvy long Harley F fender, cut it down and used it on the rear of his GS.

It was still about the same length as the stock rear fender on a GS, but looked really nice I thought.

There are so many options to custom on the cheap or not.

If you have A good fast internet connection start browsing different parts on E-bay and see if there is anything you think may look good on your bike.

The first thing I would change would be the headlight as you can get a custom look and upgrade something that I feel really needs it at the same time.

Something to keep in mind, studies have shown that in the daylight people are more likely to notice a motorcycle with two headlights up front then one.

At night my 750L could use some extra light with more angling out to help spot the woodland critters that like to pop out of the trees and cornfields where I live.

I just searched for pics of your bike...get shorter handlebars...and a shorter rear fender. I have an "L" seat on my "T" and I like the backstop for when I lean on the tank. And if you have any unnecessary accoutrements...86 them.

I have a cut rear fender from an 82/750T. If I were to use it, I'd have to drill 3 holes to hold the tail light. The cut end is sharp too so I'll file it down so I don't cut myself.

Whatever you do to the bike, do it because it makes YOU happy. Following subjective/trendy mods can lead down expensive roads...

Do you see lots of GS's in your area? Post some pics in the GS sightings thread.

Restore yours to all original bone stock condition. No one else will have one like it. The only modification I would suggest is handle bars from an early Goldwing. They're bent a little different and much more comfortable, but hard to tell them from stock L bars.

Get a spare set of fenders, tank, and side covers to make it custom. Keep the OEM ( and best ) ones in case you want to put it back as was. AND if you sell it, youll have the added point of having all the original stuff as a selling point.

+1 on that. Pretty much what I have begun doing.

Forget about making the bike stand out... make yourself stand out with a whirlybird helmet !

....and maybe a shiny outfit

I actually do have a Harley fender since my last bike was a 74 Harley hardtail however a bad winter for the construction industry forced me to sell it :( but ive still got a few parts. I'm going to have to look into the goldwing bars and a lighting upgrade wouldn't be a bad idea since my ride home has no street lights. I'll have to see what kind of fabrication will be involved to mount the rear fender since I really dont want to disturb the frame. Im trying to build a good looking bike on a shoestring budget with just a touch of personalization. As far as other gs's around where I live goes ive seen a few heavily modified 750's, a couple of nice original 550's and theres usually a few projects for sale on craigslist every winter.

That's the first thing that popped into my head too, it did look pretty good on that bike.

This is what I would do personally, if my bike wasn't too far gone.
