Race update soon! Fixed the clutch, bike ran great at OMRRA's Vintage Day.

The Vintage Superbike grid was tiny, but at least we had a grid! Here Joe P. is behind me in the chicane, on his CB900F. Andrew G. is just out-of-frame on his Moto Guzzi.

Video this time (~30 seconds)! Thanks to Bob Edwards for uploading, I've put a bunch of his photos here too in previous posts.

Like I said, small grid, but at least we had one.

Final round is coming up in a few weeks. I'm swapping over the gearing (we ran the chicane the last round, as seen in the photo, but won't be for the final round) and putting on a new Pirelli rear slick. Currently sitting 3rd in both 450 Superbike and Middleweight Superbike. It'll be next to impossible to move to 2nd in these classes so I'm set on defending my current position.

Ran into a bit of trouble the last race weekend of the season:

Photo by Bob Edwards, you can see an 11-shot sequence of them here: http://bobedwards.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/OMRRA-August2011/2014-09-14-OMRRA/i-8Kn74BN

I walked away without so much as a bump, bruise, or scrape, but pretty much every part of the bike suffered some kind of damage: the frame, swingarm, forks, even the CR carbs got whanged.

Right now she's "resting" in the corner of the shop, not going to think about what's next for a couple weeks.

Ouch! Glad to hear you are ok. Hopefully the bike is not as bad as it first appears and you can get it sorted again without major problems.

Mark

I saw it after the ride on Sunday, it's badly bent

These things happen with race bikes...glad you're OK.

Look on it as a chance to improve what you've got.....it's going to be a strip down to bare parts anyway to check and replace/repair.
Ours had a pretty similar crash a couple of years back with the owners brother riding. Frame was straight....takes a lot to bend them....

Greg,

The seat frame is badly bent, that thing was airborne

I'd gotten the holeshot and was running up front, trying to put some breathing room between two buddies who were chasing me, one on an SV650, the other on an Aprilia 125cc GP bike. I was heading in to Turn 7, fastest turn on the track (4th gear, maybe 80 mph?), going quick but not faster than I've taken it before (at least from my seat-of-the-pants speedometer, but then again I haven't fallen off there yet on that bike ...). The front started pushing, 2-3 long "shrrrps" over a half-second or so, then it tucked. It was an easy lowside for me, but the bike hooked something in the grass and hopped up.

I was sliding behind the bike, watched the bike impact about 10 feet past me, when it shot up even higher and started spinning. There I was sliding along the ground on my back, watching the 500# beast spin, and thinking, "boy I hope that doesn't land on anyone ...".

Vintage bikes often get a bad rep at our club for oiling the track but I'm happy to say she didn't drip a drop during the whole affair. :)

The rear subframe is an easy straighten. Look on it as a chance to add some bracing...i'd bet on the main frame loops being good.
Kiwimacchi's "S" frame had the back end bent up in matching curls each side when he bought it - not that difficult to straighten.
As our racebike is here now - meeting this coming weekend - I'll grab some pics with the tank and seat off to give you some ideas

Well at least you will be able to say like Valentino: " I push, I push, and then I loose the front end" with an italian accent of course!
Glad to hear you were unhurt except the pride of course.

Those were some pretty good shots of it flying. A bit of time and a couple bucks and your racing again so that's good.
One question was anything fastened on that bike. I see tank flying and who knows what else.

Couple of pics of our one which may give you some ideas....gussets are 2mm sheet folded to a simple L section - light and very stiff.

And before someone asks - no you can't run the fuel level sender with those pieces in there.....
