DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

New project..not a bike

I know this is for bikes, and this can be deleted if it's breaking the rules too blatantly. Just thought I would share the story.

One of my best friends in life that I knew since Jr. High, passed away from liver cancer a couple of years ago. We were business partners and the kind of friends that come along rarely in life. The friend you would call in any emergency, night or day..and they would be there. He helped me restore my '68 Corvette through it's first phase back in the late 70's..we drove the pi$$ out of that car and shared the fun of it.

Early this week, his widow, Nina, contacted me about his '67 El Camino that he had had for years, and has since been sitting unfinished since his death. She told me that Joe would have wanted me to have this car, and would I be interested in finishing it. It just made my eyes well up with the thought of honoring his wish, and for an embarrassingly low price, basically gave me this car.

I don't have a ton of money, and it will take me several years, I'm sure, to bring this back, but I want to do it.

1967 El Camino, 327/300hp small block (already rebuilt) with a 4-speed. A very desirable year..I love this body style. It'll go back to stock in appearance. New black interior, gun metal grey metallic paint with black SS stripes, and some killer real wire wheels that I have had for 40 years. That's the plan. We'll see what happens.

The body is really straight.

Interior is all but non-existent, but every missing piece is available through the aftermarket.

It's been a long time since I've done anything on this scale. Bikes are so much easier, but I've always wanted an El Camino, and this one is special. Thanks for looking.

Sorry to hear about your friend.
I'm big El Camino fan, but I let my 66 (my favorite year) go last spring after sitting since 99. My first was a 67.

FYI, apparently that trim on the tailgate is really hard to come by. I sold a set I had from a parts car to a guy in the Chigao area who somehow found my local CL ad. He was prepared to buy the whole tailgate, and door set if necessary.

Good luck, I'm definitely going to follow along.

You're missing this from the hood. Going by your past work, I suspect you would want new, but it's yours if you want it. I may have a horn button for the center of the steering wheel also. Unfortunately the last all of my other parts sold late last spring.

Very generous of you dorkburger. I would gladly take those parts and pay for the shipping cost. Thank you very much. This is such a supportive site.

Sorry you lost your friend Larry but I'm glad to see his memory can live on like this.

We don't have El Camino's over here but ever since I first saw one on TV I've always thought they were pretty cool, so I'm keen to see how this comes along.

Larry, for his widow to give you the car he must have felt the same way about your friendship.
No doubt you will do a great job on the resto.

I also have this if you want it. Pm me your info and I'll try to get it out this week. I may be crazy busy depending on how tommorow goes though.

That would be awesome. My wife was asking about a manual earlier today. She's as excited as I am about this car. I, too, am going for an SS look so that horn button would fit right in the scheme of things.

Yeah, Steve. We've all known each other for over 40 years. She is a wonderful person. I'm so grateful to her for her generosity.

Sorry about your friend and congrats on the new project. I'm also an El Camino fan and looking forward to following this project.

I had a '68 L78 El Camino bought off the original owner, a guy that lived in the neighborhood. The L78 package included an M21, 4:11 posi, and disc brakes. Fun car.

Larry, I too am sorry to hear about your friend's passing. No doubt, Nina will be proud of her decision. Post up if you are trying to locate htf parts....you know I love a good search!

Thanks Vmass. I appreciate that. I'm glad there's interest. This is a motorcycle site afterall. Ed, my brother, years ago had a '69 SS model and that car with a 396 would just melt the tires..so much fun for 20 year old hooligans..lol.
