    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

New tire available from Avon (AM26 Roadrider)

This information may appeal to all you guys looking for tires for your GS.
Avon has finally brought their new AM26 line to North America. It has been available in Europe for over a year. Just about every size for all GS's is available in this model tire. It is great a company is making a bias ply in just about all the sizes for the 70's and 80's bikes.

I have used AM18, AM20, and AM52's before but I can't comment on the AM26. Time will tell if they are any count. Looks like a radial tread pattern on a bias ply.

Looks like the same philosophy as the Pirelli Sport Demon and the Bridgestone BT45 -- a thoroughly modern V-rated tire in sizes for a wide range of vintage and modern bikes at decent prices. It's a good time to be a GS rider.

Oh, and if anyone wants to send over a set of the Avons and Bridgestones (100/90-19 front and 130/90-17 rear, please), I'll promise to give them a very thorough thrashing and report back to the group promptly.

I've already got a set of the Pirellis and I absolutely love them. But you can send another set of those, too, just to be fair.
 
Been i Australia for yrs, hate to brag. all the historic boys use them as the race one are soft as, but over here there super expensive. ( the race ones are)

I'll give 'em a try. I need new tires for both the Skunk and the Beast. I'll put these on the Skunk and see how I like them. $177.00 shipped. Good price for V rated tires. I think the Beast will be trying some Sport Demons.
 
They seem to have identical thread pattern on both front and rear tires...some can even be used on either wheel :? .

I'm Guessing that the Rims weren't Made For them and there isn't enough Profit in the Tire Makers Creating New Products for a Limited Market.

I have noticed that Avon has several tires that can be used front or rear on several models, especially their race only series. I don't think this is any thing that should scare anybody off. I have road raced with their Super Venom AM18/AM20's. They were ultra sticky. I hope the AM26's will be as sticky. I know that means they won't last long, but for the riding I do, it will be perfect. I usually put on about 2000 miles a year and like the curves, like Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap in NC. The only time tires like that suck is when I need to commute to work for several weeks in the summer and you will begin to see a flat spot on the rear. :(

I wish I could claim that was me, but its my friend borrowing my Suzuki TR500 at Roebling Road in 1999. I gave up racing by then. I still have the bike but..... Oh by the way, if you'll notice the lean angle of a 1972 vintage bike, that is the reason I am not too hip on the idea of putting over sized radials on vintage bikes. They can get over just fine on a 120 bias ply rear tire.\\:D/
