    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Ello all,
first off id like to say superb site. I recently brought a 84 gsx 750 es which cost me next to nothing which i thought was a steal as it flew through its mot an rode beautiful but as i got abit more use to it as this is my first big bike after a load of 125s i noticed that when i take it up to 8000rpm it dips down to 7000 then bursts back up to 9000 this happen thru 1st 2nd an 3rd and then in 4th an 5th it jus wont pick up after it dips 8000 like its got no power any ideas to what could be causing this would be great. I have noticed that one of the carbs is leakin at the middle gasket a mixture of oil an petrol could this be the problem? Thanks for any help
 
I would remove your carburetors, take them completely apart, dip them and reassemble them. The carbs should not leak. It could be starved for fuel.
BTW, I can't imagine running the bike at 9k rpms in 5th gear, how fast are you going?
 
At the moment it struggles to touch a 110mph. I did think it was a fuel supply problem. I suppose i'd need to replace the gasket in the carb thats leakin an i woz thinkin just to replace all the jets in all the carbs cause before i got it i had been sat for awhile an ran funny thru all the rev range but cleared out after about 20miles do u think thats worth a shot?
 
If the bike has been sitting for any length of time with gas in it..the carbs, tank and petcock should be cleaned. There is no need to replace the jets, just clean them. You can order a set of o-rings from www.cycleorings.com , very affordable. You may also want to get some new fuel bowl gaskets.

If you do have a maintenance history on the bike, it would be a good idea to adjust the valves as soon as you can. These old bikes, especially after sitting, usually need the carbs cleaned, brake system cleaned and checked, electrical system connectors cleaned and the valves adjusted. This is in addition to the normal maintenance such as oil + filter, spark plugs, wires..etc

Personally, I would not run the bike that hard until you make sure the maintenance has been done.
 
Thats brilliant mate, i didnt really think proply durr i gave it a standard service u kno oil, sparks an emptied the tank an refulled it. Ive got the manual on order will this help me locate the peacok as really dnt kno what it is? Am i right in thinkin its found in the tank?
 
petcock = fuel valve

On the left, attached to the fuel tank.

It's vacuum-actuated, meaning there's a vacuum line from one of the carbs to the petcock (the smaller hose) and the larger hose is the gas. When the bike is running, intake vacuum pulls a diaphragm inside the petcock and opens the valve. That way, you don't have to remember to shut it off every time you stop.

It's a very simple and reliable system, but the rubber parts inside petcocks "only" last about 25 years. It's very likely you need a new one. Here in the USA, they're only about $50 - $60 from a Suzuki dealer (or other supplier of Suzuki parts) -- I don't know how that translates into GBP or your parts sources.

ive got my manual 2day so hopefully by nxt wk it will be bk 2 its forma glory nxt will be the bodywork as thats definatly seen better days an i wanted 2 take the front fairin off 2 put a lamp on. Ill upload pics as soon as my computer stops bein a reject haha

If you are going to be rebuilding your carburetor you will need some carb dip($20usd), some carb cleaning spray($7usd), an impact driver (really you do need this)(harborfreight works $5-10usd), some blue threadlocker($5usd), antiseize($3usd), replacement screws/bolts, replacement gaskets(buy from z1 ~$ 15usd?), and it is probable that you will need some new float needles. If you have one bad float needle you may consider replacing all of the float needles because the old ones will feel significantly stiffer.

If you need the float needles you are probably best off ordering carb rebuild kits which will include the floats and gaskets. Dismantle and inspect before you order gaskets or floats or o-rings. Lump your purchases when possible and save some money on shipping.

And for the love of god be careful about stripping screws! If you have any doubts just hit it with the impact driver and save yourself the pain of sawing or drilling.

Yea sound ive already found a site that supplies carb rebuild kits but its for a katana thats the same year an cc and i know the carbs are the same but i was wonderin if all the floats an bits would be the same
