    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I feel bad for where this has gone.

I feel bad that many of you feel I am pushing my values on you. But, that is exactly what you are doing to me by forcing me to look at and read some of the material in the posts.

There is intollerance on both sides and when no one will bend you have an impass.

That is what we have here so I am bowning out and leaving the forum to those who are the (majority)?

As it was pointed out my theads are not my theads. I had posted a possible fix for this to avert future conflict and had cc'd Frank with the suggestion. It is in Motorcycle discussion area"

We have all leaned a little something about ourselves and our forum. Most of you believe that I stand alone on this but many have supported me publically and privately so there are more feelings and wished being stepted on then you think.

This was not an issue of morality just a request which could have been answered with a no. I opened up and exposed myself at a risk...I was a litttle surprised at the hate that came out.

There are a lot of good people here who are being publically quit and that is ok. Thank you for your support and encouragement.

My life and views have been made sport of. that is ok, I can take it. the fixation of sex and eroticism in the world today runs deep. All one has to do is question it and all hell brakes loose.

freedom, censorship and rights are screamed from the rooftops as the one who is questioning's freedom and rights are trampled to be free from a constant bombardment of sensuality.

Like I said, it is a loose loose situation so I will depart and kgb's avatar can be reistated. The freedom some say I have stolen I gladly give back.

I am not leaving with any hard feelings just a little disapointment. I am a believer of majority rules and in this case I seem to have lost. I don't like to just dissapear, I think that is the easy way out.

Frank, I am truely sorry for the fallout for doing me a curtacy. KGB, I should have given you more time to reply....it had been a bad day. Being aggressive isn't one of my favourite traits but, my spelling is worse.

Thanks for the great info and help along the way and I wish you all well.

Rob.

I was quiet since I figured it would work it's way out. I sure don't want to see you go.

Please reconsider your choice to leave.

Hey Kat,

I haven't followed all the threads you allude to (I saw and commented in one or two -- even defended your position), but please don't take the insensitive remarks a few people may have made in your direction to heart.

There is no reason you should feel you have to leave. I'm sure that there are workable solutions that will suit the majority. I certainly had no problem with the request to remove the racy avatars (you may or may not be aware that I adopted KGB's for a short time), and I certainly understand where you and others may not have appreciated having to look at them if it wasn't your cup of tea.

I hope you will reconsider your decision to leave.

Best Regards,
Steve 8)

Any one who leaves because of these dis agreements is being childish. I did the same thing a couple of years back.
Well at least if this ends the foolishness then so be it.

My .02 worth.

Hey I thought the whole dang thing was blown out of the grasp of reality and stuff but, I do not want anyone to leave!!!! Stick around Katman and anyone else. We are supposed to be adults here, Kat, just don't reply or participate in any thread you deem ugly or bad-Hey I do it all the time in the political ones, I just ignore them and go on.

We are a decent, loving, bunch for the most part except Claude and Frosty--  (joking before something else fires up) so don't leave, just pick and choose your battles, some are not worth it buddy.

Anyhow, Peace out!! 8) :D

Hey. Can we all say forgive and forget. If we could all meet in person, we probably would. We're all much better off if we just let this thing go and get back to what we love and enjoy...talking motorcycles.
Just stay. :)

I've stayed extremely quiet in all of this, til now. Your tech posts have a lot to be learned from. I read through your major rebuild post just recently while following the avatar 'thing' going on. I think it would be a major loss to lose your bike expertise. It would be a minor thing to lose a few, shall we say, racier, avatars.
fetch.dll
I had hoped this thing would just wash under the bridge, forgotten. Time to put this behind and get back to bike building and the normal 'shenanigans'. :D

If you go, please make it only a short departure. Take a break, and come back. Please! Memories are short, as long as we can learn to let things go.
You will be missed.

Majority rule is not always a good thing. Just because folks were a bit upset at the way you presented your problem, does not mean that what you asked for has no merit. I hope one of the suggestions to resolve this issue can be quickly implemented.

Anyway, all of this was blown completely out of proportion, and I am sure most of the folks would like you to consider staying on the forum.

Scotty is right; I second what he and the rest of the folks on this thread have said. Stay, Katman!

Nick

Well the problem maybe solved 8)

You can now turn off avatars and signitures in your profile, thanks Frank :D

So stay Katman we dont want anyone leaving the GSR :(

dont hurry back

Its over man :?

How about letting me have the last word on this?

A potential problem existed with visual and personal comments appended to our screen names that most of us simply accepted, however, as comments from some have shown, they may have been displeased to some extent, but tolerance prevailed, and they took no action, and posted no complaints.

Finally, some one did complain, and, unfortunately, it was not done in such a manner that it could avoid annoying many members. Worse, perhaps, is that the annoyance and sourness grew over a period of days until the cause at last became clear.

I don't believe it was intended to harm anyone, as the writer may well have been unaware of how much his actions could affect others, nor did he know the extent of involvement so many people have with this Forum. I am sure, however, that he does now. I know he has received my own PMs and I would think it a fair guess that he has received others as well.

Reason has prevailed, and Frank has installed a new tool for the use of any one who wishes to remove that potential problem from their screens.
As has happened before, time and member involvement have shown a better way, and once again Frank took advantage of it to further improve what is already an exceptional Forum.

Hopefully, this situation has shown that all of us may learn a little more from the opinions of others, which is the main reason we are here, and
that if there is a perceived cause for dissension, that it should be dealt with in a reasonable and honest manner by all concerned.

Yeah, it's a motorcycle forum, in a way. It's polluted by all the political garbage talk, and now this avatar issue.

Dumb as hell...

...but still a motorcycle forum. I wish we would be self-disciplined enough to keep it that way.

Nick

M-cycle forum, yes...But that is why there is a section called 'Off Topic".

katman, that is just stupid bro. The problem is fixed and even if it wasn't your participation on this forum was beneficial to many who haven't even voiced an opinion on this mater and many who have. I think you are allowed to do whatever you want but just want to say that if you leave for this reason "I" feel your motives are very selfish and your not thinking about any of your fellow GS'rs at all. Some of us "more" than like your input in the performance threads and there are current mods talking place on several bikes that were spawned from your ideas and input.

And if you go, I am sure to beat you to completion as you wont be able to post in time to prove it any other way :)

Yeah that?s a challange, bring it on!

Just stick man, come on...

Katman,
I don't really know you, since I'm fairly new here, however I would hate to see you go. I don't agree with your ideas about nudity and morality and whatnot, however I can respect that those are your views and you are entitled to think whatever you wish. The problem has been solved, so there is no reason to leave.

With all due respect to those that think the problem has been solved, the real problem here is not the issue of whether or not the fix has been made. The problem is with the attitude of those responding to a heartfelt request. I came very close to calling a few here some things they would not have liked. I held my tongue though, Katman held his own in my book.

While it may be true that this is public domain and people can respond in any way they choose, the reaction of those that were in disagreement with Katman left plenty to be desired. So now the site has lost one of its most valuable contributors.

This same type of thing happened to John Eckhart and I a couple of years ago. John never did return, a great loss to the site. It was months before I returned. Now this has left a foul taste in my mouth and I am seriously thinking of calling it quits permanently. There are people here who hold themselves in high regard who lack the wisdom and good sense to refrain from things they have no business posting. As the old saying goes, "If you don't have anything nice to say, ..."

So now off I go to ponder any further participation.
