A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Picked up another barn find last week and am trying to determine what carbs are on it..I figured out is was OK to ask since I have more GS'S than KZ'S ?

29mm inside diameter engine side
39mm inside diameter airbox side

These were on a 1979 kz1000 MKII that I have little history about.

Can anyone help or maybe I should say would anyone help even though it's a KZ?

what the heck another pic

what the heck another pic

yup you guessed it

VM type obviously, and that lever on the bottom of one of the floatbowls looks like an accelerator pump. Not sure what else, maybe try kzrider.com?

vm28's with accelerator pumps. Similar to gs's pre 1980 carbs.

Just looked down your list of rides and I see that your 'new' KZ has a BIG brother. :-\\\

Hope it's doing well, as parts are hard to find for it.

.

If I remember correctly, the very early KZ1000's, (pre "78"), came with VM28's with the acc pumps. Around here, we always thought these were a good cheap upgrade for the GS100's & GS750's that always had the 26's.The later model KZ1000's had VM26's, I think without the acc. pump.

Haven't seen a Mark Kaw in that nice a shape in a long, long time. Newbee, may I ask why you want to know the model of carb? Curious?

While I've worked on many sets of carbs like that I can't swear what the model is. If your going to clean them out be careful about blowing through things, those accelerator pumps have check valves here and there, the blow gun can send them into next Tuesday. :(

I think the consensus is VM 28MM with Accelerator pump. I wanted to be sure so I can get parts ordered. These also appear to be the correct application for this model.

I am getting to many projects but the winters are long here so I will have plenty of time.

I am ignoring the 1100L for now while I round up some more pieces. I am itching to get it going though............

Thank you for not "flogging" me for asking a question about a KAWA
