A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Im sure alot of us GS riders already know about the website:
BIKEBANDIT.com

But for those of you who dont know where to buy parts OEM & AMP that site is great. Ive bought a bunch of stuff for my bike there. They have full schematics as well.

Good luck

Bike Bandit is OK. Their parts cost a little more, but shipping is usually pretty quick. The schematics (fiche) are about the same on any of the vendor sites. One major complaint against Bike Bandit is that they are the only one that does not use Suzuki part numbers, like everyone else. Makes no difference when you are just buying some parts, but makes it hard to compare with other bikes to check compatibility. Get the part number from Alpha, plug it into the reverse lookup feature at Babbitts and see what other bikes use that same part.

If you have gotten BassCliff's official welcome, you should have seen his suggested vendors. That list is good, but even it is not complete.

As an example, I just sent an order last night for a bunch of parts to start getting my "freebie" 850 back on the road. The list included several cables, gas tank mounts, fork seals, caliper seals, and some other stuff. I started a spreadsheet to compare all the prices to see which vendor had the overall lowest price. The list below is just the list of those that had ALL the parts I was looking for.

Here is how they compared:
Alpha Sports $194.61
Babbitts $139.15
Bike Bandit $158.10
Carolina Cycle $133.44
Full Throttle $139.39
Moto Grid $134.38
PartShark $128.64

This time, I ordered from PartShark, but I have placed several orders with Carolina Cycle with great satisfaction.

Interesting to note that five of the seven were all grouped around $128 to $139, then Bike Bandit at $158 and Alpha at $194, a whopping 50% more than the lowest. Seems that the best thing that Alpha has going for it is the very easy to use part finder interface.

Others that are on my vendor list include:
Cycle Re-Cycle 2
MR Cycles
Parts-n-More
Ron Ayres
Z1 Enterprises

Depending on what you are looking for, a different vendor might have a better price, so it pays to shop around.

I've never figured out who the heck buys anything from Alpha-Sports. Their parts prices are insane.

They do have an online fiche system that works differently and a little better sometimes, so whoever you rich idiots are, please keep supporting them. :D I'm too poor to pay 50% more for the exact same Suzuki parts.
