    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Has anyone tried these? They're priced very good - $60 USD for my GS1000. Next best price I've found is $100 for a Vesrah kit from denniskirk. I think OEM gaskets are $100 just for the head gasket :shock:

There's some other small items I'd like to order from partsnmore, but not enough to make the minimum order, so I'd kind of like to try them. But I don't want to be doing a second rebuild because the gaskets were no good :?

Dunno about the partsnmore gaskets, but Vesrah has a reputation for quality stuff. $40 is quite a difference...could come down to how much are you willing to spend on piece of mind.
 
I've bought a bunch of kits from them. They send athena kits I beleive.

everything's there EXCEPT the square "o" ring that goes in between the cylinders and the head. I was able to reuse the square thing.

I had an issue on one of my valve covers (1 out of 3), but everything else has survived well.
 
what site can we order these kits from? ... I need a good kit for my Overhaul and am not satisfied with getting a kit on EBay.

Rider recommendations have much more credit =)

The PartsNMore kit is high quality stuff. I bought one to overhaul my bike this summer and had no problems whatsoever.
 
I purchased a Veserah gasket kit for my 1100, very pleased with the quality. I even prefer more, the Veserah v/c gasket style (wider paper material) vs. the OEM Suzuki (thick, odd brittle material) piece.

When you see all those single cheap GS gaskets on EBay, those are just Veserah gaskets. Guys buy the complete kits, then pimp out the individual gaskets to make money.

Both vendors have excellent reputations. Z1 is likely cheaper, CRC2 might be faster.

I have installed both Athena and Vesrah gaskets. Vesrah gaskets have always worked perfectly and are very nice quality. The Athena gaskets were noticeably lower quality (more brittle, more like cardboard), and I had to fix a slightly misplaced hole in my Athena head gasket with a Dremel tool. Impressed, I was not.

But the Athena gasket set has been on my GS850 for something like 40,000 hard miles, so it's obviously at least OK. Mine included the square o-ring or the cam tunnel, so maybe the previous poster's experience was a mistake.

I've never understood why "complete" gasket sets are still missing the tach drive seals, cam chain tensioner seals and gaskets, and intake o-rings, but they're still a lot cheaper than buying everything from Suzuki. And frankly, I think the Vesrah gaskets are better than the Suzuki OEM.

Last July I replaced all the top end gaskets on my 80 GS1000E using the $100 kit you mentioned (vesra). Got everything back together and the small oil leak I had meant to fix was now a stream of oil at the head gasket junction. At the advice of others on this forum I ordered the $60 kit from partsnmore that you're asking about and re-replaced the head gasket. Sealed up nicely- no leaks. (The square o-ring was included -btw- as was the gasket for the cam-chain tensioner)
Now I can say that my second time through I knew more about what I was doing so it may not be entirely the different gasket that made the difference but in my humble opinion the partsnmore kit is a good one. For what it's worth, hope that helps. Good luck!!!:)

I bought a Vesrah kit from z1enterprises for a non-Suzuki bike. He was about $20 cheaper than DennisKirk, but it took a while to get the kit. If memory serves me right (I'm old, O.K. :oops: ) he was out at the time and was waiting on a shipment. When I order from them, I call so I can get the direct skinny on the status of things. But their prices are usually better than any one else's.
 
Got my progressive suspension from Z1 and was really impressed with it. Looked on the site for the Vesrah kit but nothing came up under the GS750E found them for the GS1100 and the 850 though... am I missing something? Dropped them a call also so lets see who answers back first :-D

Seal Kits and Gasket sets are two different things... it would be nice if they came in the same pack, but ive never seen one that does

I bought it and expect it to arrive tomorrow. The shipping went astray and the shippong company finally located it today. The bike goes to the shop next week for a complete top end rebuild using OEM rings. Will report on how it went.
 
I tried Z1 and apparently they do not have Vesrah gasket sets... just the top one. Does anyone know where I can get the full set from?
 
I just got done replacing my base and head gaskets with the Athena kit from partsnmore. Took it on a 50 mile ride today and it hasnt leaked a single drop of oil. This is the first time I used them so I dont how it will hold up down the road.

located the part says includeds everything for a rebuild of entire engine....46 pieces

... besides the gasket stuff I figure I shoudl be ok for my rebuild since the other parts (rings, pistons, etc.) ... can't really buy those til I get the engine apart and see if they measure up to still be in their service life or not.

That a good assesment for a bike showign 40k and a busted odo?
