    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

bbjumper and I are planning a 9 day Yellowstone trip in August. I have a box for the rear rack but wanted some more storage room. This I think, is my solution.

These are pelican cases I attached to the sides with u-bolts. I attached them to the grab bar and the to the passenger foot peg. They do not rub on anything, not the shock, side panel, or frame anywhere. I think they will work well for carrying some of my gear since I am going to put the Tour Tank behind the backrest. With these and the box on the back I should have plenty of room. The one on the exhaust side is well above the pipe but I am still going to put some heat shield on the bottom of the case.

pack everything in water tight plastic bags and add weather stripping to the rims of the cases.
 
You won't need it with the Pelicans as long as you've sealed anywhere that you've drilled....

Thought I was on the wrong forum for a moment there...! :lol:

When we went out to Minnesota afew years ago, I got one of those emergency gas cans you put in the trunk and put that in the Tbags just in case someone needed it..noone did, but it was nice to know it was there.

Putting stuff in liner bags or stuff sacks makes it easier to unload. Doesn't look like you're setup for "quick release" :)

Free is the best price :D
 
Nope, not quick release. Will only put them on when I go on tours. I can fit my tent plus more in one and now that I have the extra storage I am taking my twin size air mattress and pump. They fit in one with room to spare.

How much room is there between the bag and the pumpkin? To me it looks like there could be an issue should you load the suspension and then work it pretty good but it's hard telling in the photo angles you have.

Josh, in the 2nd pic of post #1, I think I see the hole through the head on the end of the rear axle. It's almost in line with the shock, so I think he's good.

I was wondering how well the case and the u-bolts will hold together. I probably would have wanted to add a flat strap inside the case to reinforce the wall. I don't have much experience with Pelican cases, so I don't have a feel for how tough the material is. I imagine they were subjected to the yank-on-it-like-a-maniac test, so it's probably fine.

There is a flat support strip on the inside. I think they should be called Gorilla Cases since a gorilla would have a hard time damaging one of these things.

As for the clearance, everything lines up outside the shocks and no rear wheel components come into play.

I have a 1982 750 TZ. I have nowhere to put luggage as it is. You have a great looking setup. Did you make the seatback and luggage rack? Thanks - Rob D.

the seat back and rack came with the bike when my dad bought it new in 1980.
