So I am riding home on my newly acquired 1979 GS1000L, 65mph down the highway when suddenly my left leg is bathed in gasoline! Safely braking to the shoulder, I discover the petcock appears to be broken. The lower knurled right angled piece to which the hose is attached going I assume to the carburetors has popped out of the petcock body! I slip it back in and nervously complete the trip home without this reoccurring.
I do now have a small leak from this, and am concerned the petcock has failed; while this appears to be a piece that may be designed to slide in and out, that seems to make no sense as there's nothing to hold it in place. So... i appear to be in need of a replacement.
An hour or so of cruising the forums, following links, and utilizing the magic of google, shows me ZERO aftermarket (pingel, z1, etc) specifically matched to this bike. (ok, 1, at $300)
Any wisdom, instruction, guidance?
THANKS
Rick
