DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

Here's something different: Giant Structures. This is the new railroad bridge over the Genesee River Gorge in Letchworth Park.

Kinda struggling with this one.

Here's the structure used to test the first atomic device. Well, a replica anyway since the original was vaporized. "The Gadget" (as they called it) hanging from the structure, is about six feet in diameter. This is at the National Atomic Museum here in Albuquerque.

Maybe not giant as far as transmission line towers go, but quite tall in this picture

I suspect 3 or so of us regular players here have pics of Tulip Trestle in southern Indiania, and one or two of us were just there Friday or Saturday. But I'll use this local xmission tower.

Wife agreed to take a short ride with me (second time ever) so I could get a pic of her on the oversized Adirondack at a local shop.

Well Happy Friday, GSR! Time to review our photos and vote.

This week's theme by Eli68:
Giant Structures.

And there they are. 10 fun photos of giant things...

Don't forget to vote, and please advise us if anything is amiss....

Some really neat pictures. My vote is for Mr Kerrfunk and the slightly over the top sculpture. I mean that is big.

Enjoyable shots.

I wonder if the place in cowboy Scott’s picture rents out rooms and has facilities for a GSR rally.

richs pic hit me “why didn’t I think of that, have a chair like that nearby, have pics of grandkids there”. And I like that he got his wife involved.

vote for Steve Murdock, mostly because the structure is so big and so well lit, and shows size of structure, and is bike and structure and little else to distract from the bike and structure.
Mostly because is so well lit. I think I noticed that because this is the pic that first came to my mind to enter:

but decided not to because the structure is in its own shadow at that time of day as viewed from that side (and due to distortion of being a vertical panographic shot.).

note: The place of cowboy Scott’s pic is referred to as "..... lunatic asylum".

Eli69, From mountain to mountain all the way across that river gorge. Baatfam's looks like a fish that should be swimming in the river below the bridge, a close 2nd.
