Pic of the week game

Some good documentary photos.
I was not available to vote Friday, but I was thinking that Trevs border crossing pic was documentary and told something of a story.

Is Saturday now, have 5 entries, and 4 votes.
And the tally is 4 votes for mr/mrs Steve.

I will inform her when I see her for lunch today, will have something up this evening. :encouragement:

Sorry gents, I had intended to vote, but was busy at work at a new jobsite. We were undoing the results of a poor installation by another contractor(s) and the ongoing problems it caused. $10 million dollar (I?m told) mansion. Beautiful place, but the mechanical installation was horrible and wrong in many ways.

Steve and the Four Corners Monument this week.

I vote for the 4-corner picture of Mrs. Steve's motorcycle 
If that photo wins, Mrs. Steve has to pick the next subject. Yes? ☺

I'm cool with (Mrs.) Steve's photo and vote for that one.

Thanks, guys. It has been a while since I posted anything, so I had to re-register.

We thought about this for a bit and decided on a theme that just about anybody can relate to, although pictures might be a bit limited. :-k

The theme for this week will be "Slightly less-than-perfect riding weather."

On the Blue Ridge Parkway:

I used to swear that my old 1100 had a black cloud over it that dumped rain whenever it left the state. That bike is long gone though.

A more recent picture with my current cycle.

Welcome to the game Mrs Steve! BRP is one of my all-time favorite roads to ride on....

So my pic for less than perfect weather. December this past year went out for a good 50 mile loop and was bummed rush by a snow squall that quickly dropped a couple of inches of snow. The FZ6 held up quite well!

20ish miles home turned into an hour+ ride! Oops.

Great theme Mr/Mrs Steve.
Maybe identify which of the 3 photos is your entry.

Man, the quality of the photos so far, somewhat discourages me. .

Although they all show the theme of "less than perfect riding conditions", I will select the third picture as the official entry, as it shows the least visibility.

Dave, I can only wonder about your discouragement. Is it because of the lack of artistic quality of the pictures (doubtful :-\\\) or is it because you are more of a fair-weather rider and might not have an entry? :-k

I see, you like to use the sarcastic whistle just like your husband...lol...what Dave is saying...is a compliment to the photos so far...as in "I'm discouraged because they are so good, and I may find it hard to submit a worthy pic"....:-\\\

Btw...I really like Dork's pic...very cool!

....
Dave, I can only wonder about your discouragement.........
My statement was in reference to the superior photographic quality of some the submissions, such that will be hard for anybody (well, me anyway) to have anything better than that.
I have several/many photos of GK with the bike reflected some in the wet pavement and stormy threatening skys and wet roads in background, some with road grime on bike and wet pavement, and some of the Shadow with snow piles, and some with ice fishing shantys on the frozen bayou in background... but all those are mostly documentary and not too interesting photographically. But I will find one of those to submitt.

This is a shot I took a couple of years ago on a solo trip I did up the coast, over to Vegas and then up to Idaho and home...this was taken at Bonneville Salt flats....there was no one around....as you can see the weather was getting bad....I rode in some hard wind and rain for quite some time right after this pic was taken....always liked this shot. :)

You are your own worst critic, Dave. Please post and contribute a pic. You never know what others may find interesting about your photo.

Looks quite miserable to be out on the ice, just to go fishing.
Man, all the effort just to go fishing.
Geesch, all the expense and equipment, just to go fishing.

I would have stepped back to get more of bike and the road in the picture frame, but would have had to have unplugged the heated gear from the bike.

I don't know about Dave but I'd be the latter--maybe "less than perfect" for me would be cloudy.

Mrs. Steve, cool topic.
Definitely some cool and for real shots. Not the kind I see on Instagram where I get the feeling that the photographer rolled their bike out of the garage and down the road and posed their spotless bike for an "I ride in the rain / snow" shot.

Great batch of pics so far.

Trevor, that shot is full of both serenity and desolation. I love it.

I would also get the feeling that "less than perfect" could include 100? or more, in the blazing sun.

Leaning into a sidewind could count, too. Doesn't necessarily have to be cold and/or wet.

......................this was taken at Bonneville Salt flats....

Oh, I saw what looked like road salt residue on the tire and was thinking had snowed in recent days.... oh, Bonneville Salt Flats.

That's one reason I love this area. Honestly not too many days are far from perfect riding conditions. Sure there are a few but man, 50's and 60's in February and our first real rain showers in months. I almost want to deliberately set out in the rain just to get wet. Almost...LOL

June is not very fun on an air cooled bike at temps in the low 100's but even then last year wasn't bad at all with only a couple of those days. Wind on the other hand, we definitely get our share!
