If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pic of the week game

For me, the old steamies get it; a toss-up between Storm and Steve.
On balance I think Storm for the older steamer.

I'll vote for Steve Murdoch this week. That baby looks like it just came off the show room floor! The motorcycle looks great too! 🌞

I have looked all of them over multiple times, have to go with Rich82 for the great Sky and Bike color match and still including a RR crossing.

Mr. Steve Murdock please. That engine is so metal and getting yelled at for parking there does it for me.

Tally time!

My count is:
1 each for baatfam and storm
2 each for cowboy and rich
3 for kerrfunk
and the winning 5 for murdoch

Fourteen votes total, would somebody confirm while I say:

Congrats on win number two, Steve!

Nice! Thanks for the votes, Gents.

I think we may have done this one previously and who knows may do it again in the future. I rode past a new windmill farm this morning so how about "energy sources."
Could include dams, power plants, solar panels, windmills....heck maybe you have your Peleton bike hooked to a grid.
I will probably be changing this pic but it should get things started.

At a 3 unit power station as viewed from a bridge over the railroad tracks.
When I was there Sunday I happend to catch it with coal cars comming and going out, which I think makes the picture.
So could say the coal is the power source, or could say the 3 power plants are the power source.
Each coal car is 100 tons. I find it interesting to look into empty car and think that somewhere in Kentucky there is a a void underground that same size, and well over a hundered of them a day.

The light brown/ dark brown taller part of the building is the unit 3 boiler house. THe lower part to the left is it's turbine/generator house. The stuff to the right is it's various ash precipitators and sulfur scrubbers. THe concrete stack is for unit 3 and is 650ft tall (I have been up there).

Unit 3 is 800MegaWatts and went online in 1980, and is the last power plant built by power companys (Consumers, or Detriot Edison, Indiana Michigan) in the state.
(anything since has been real small municipal plants, primarily natural gas. or private company small co-generation meaning maybe also produce steam for some other purpose. Or small wind turbines.).

Would be more obvious "power source" if could also see the transformers and switching station and transmission lines (375 Kvolts) that is further to the left.

With the bike, I could get into the construction lot in the back.
The red/white stack is for unit 1 & 2, the yellow building being the boiler house, and the blue stuff are their precipitators and sulfur scrubbers.
Unit 2 is from 1967 and is 385 MW. Unit 1 is from 1962 and is 265 MW.

>>later note
Went that way again today, and stopped at same place.
