A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Adler- Can you post of pic of your 550L seat cover once you install it? I may get one for my '81 550L if it's the same as yours.

Thanks

I absolutely intend to, so far its en route to them, taking its damn time too...

I didnt see a 1978 gs1000 seat cover.
i may take a Yamaha GT80 seat cover if someone arrange a group buy.
Marc

I sent him some pics and a question about a group buy. Here is the exchange:
"Hi,

Thanks for contacting me again. Yes, I will give you a discounted price of $55.93 for each seat cover if you order minimum 10pieces. This is 30% off my ebay selling price.

Please let me know exact qty you need and I will provide shipping quotation.

Thank you
Best Regards, TC

(This is what I sent to him)
Attached are the pictures of the installed seat cover. It looks great and the forum members are very interested in the group buy we discussed.
How can we set up the group buy? One thought was that you set up a special account number for us and when we reach the limit of 10 then the group buy is successful.
Please let me know your thoughts on this, there are several people who have already said they want at least one seat cover."

Clearly there is a communication issue here. Is anyone pursuing setting this up?

My cover off a GS1000GL arrived in Thailand today according to tracking info. This cover is good for 1980,1981, GS850GL and the GS1000GL for those years. I'll be posting some pics when ever I get the new one. Probably going to take 3-4 weeks before I receive it though..

That's me with the knife... can you spot my Dad? He's behind the engine assembly lube, overseeing the operation. ;)

I sent my cover on sept 27th... It STILL hasnt arrived there... Needless to say, Im a little worried.

Here is my -78 GS750 seat with pit-replica cover. It is fine, though not great in my opinion. Some slight wrinkling on the top. Hopefully it settles with time.

How'd things turn out with your seat cover? Did you eventually receive it?

I did indeed and so far it looks great. I haven't had a chance to install it yet, though, still have more seat pan repair to do. (or seat pan replacement)

My cover shipped last Tuesday, eagerly waiting to see what it looks like!

That cover looks great; The [edited: heat embossed pattern] sure give it a nice OEM look.

Not sure that wrinkle will come out without changing the stitched seam to tighten it up just as it wraps. Just from the pics if the seam angle was pulled in 1/8" probably right at where it wraps it would lay nicely flat.

Very nice cover regardless.

Edit: They probably left a little extra room there to avoid stressing the seam. Will have to see; it seem like just a bit too much material.

Wonder if just a thin bit of foam underneath would help flatten the wrinkle?

Don't know if you're talking about my cover - but it already has a bit extra foam under there - it was sagging a bit without it. They couldn't tighten it up any more because of the seams.

But we'll see how it settles once its ridden and out in the elements. Does new vinyl react with sun?

yes..it will soften a bit and stretch.. maybe the sun will help work the set out of the wrinkles..you know it wont hurt anyhting. The foam may even expand a bit and stretch the wrinkles out too.
