A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

(Please help) Which looks better?

A loud Harley startled the hell out of my new puppy the other day. He was visibly shaking, and he's been around plenty of loud things in his socialisation period. It was far, far too loud for civilized society.

I've gone back and forth on the tips, but I've settled in the All Black camp.

I'm in no great position to come down hard on noisy pipes, as I've spent the last couple of weeks blasting around with a Delkevic pipe on full song, chasing down an under-fuelling, over-heating gremlin. Luckily, I'm in the boonies, so people just get a blast as I pass, but it's nothing like as annoying as in a town.
Once I set things right, the add-on Supertrapp end will go back on and restore some semblance of civility to matters.
Doggam, though, it sounds superb at 6000 rpm under load.

When the baffle shot out of my Z1's tail pipe, I never replaced it. But I never annoyed people in my own neighborhood. I'd push it down the block a bit, start her, then idle away in first.

At night (or morning), when returning, I'd take her up to 60-ish and kill the engine about an eighth of a mile away and coast silently into my garage.

But in other neighborhoods, look out! I imagine car alarms are different these days, but I sometimes got a kick out of roaring down a block setting off alarm after alarm.

I'm probably guilty of disturbing the peace in my days of motorcycling. I loved the sound of the 1100e with a Star Pipe! Or the KZ650 with a RC header! Sweet music

Thankyou to everyone that has given me their opinion on the pipe colour. You guys rock 🤟

I am confused is one color louder than the other ? The guy asked for a simple color choice. I like black,

it's all good. he also tried to spread some nonsense. that's all.

ps, if the tank remains a brushed look, then the stainless tip. otherwise black
(white wheels ... no comment (wink)) :)

I hardly tryed to spread nonsense, I made a comment that I believed to be true and when I looked it up and found that there was no proof to back up my comment I apologised (shake of the head)

Either tip will work, I prefer the stainless.

As for loud pipes, it defies common sense and science that a loud noise isn't noticeable. I can hear a loud motorcycle in my blind spot anyone who claims otherwise is lying or a distracted driver. Many times I've been in my truck and I'm aware a motorcycle has moved into my vicinity by sound alone. I've also been on my moderately loud bikes and can see drivers searching for me in their mirrors so they knew I was back there, they heard me before they saw me. Do all drivers notice, no but even if only 5% do I'll take that 5% rather than have a car merge on top of me. I avoid riding in blind spots but it isn't always possible.

Sirens on emergency vehicles, we can all hear them often before we see them and not knowing from which direction they're approaching. One USA government agency predicted motorcycle/pedestrian collisions will increase as electric versions take over due to their silent running. It's why bicycles have bells, to warn pedestrians they're being approached from the rear.

Here's the study that noisy pipe haters claim that doesn't exist https://www.nhtsa.gov/sites/nhtsa.gov/files/documents/quietcar_finalrule_11142016.pdf
So yes indeed noise is a safety requirement.

Will loud pipes help in every situation, no but if they help in only a small percentage then I want that percentage on my side. Emergency vehicles use bright high viz colours, lights and noise to be noticed, if noise isn't effective turn off those annoying sirens. Nah that'll never happen because noise helps. Lets remove horns from all vehicles because they don't work either, nah they do work so horns aren't going anywhere. My horn is my last resort when my pipes aren't loud enough and sometimes even that isn't enough. Banning loud pipes is an issue because some people are annoyed by a brief excess of noise not because it doesn't work, if they fail to work it's because of distracted drivers.

Yes there are riders who make an excessive amount of noise for no reason, when I'm in my quiet residential neighbourhood I coast cruise home in stealth mode and I get no complaints. Needless stupid juvenile behaviour is what started the noise issue.

Nice work wyly...

I'll wait for all the apologies from all those no it all guys sooking about a little noise (as if) oh well.

I've refrained from commenting, but some comments here...

I very much like the sound of ICE's, also unmuffled (but unless your engine pulls 1000hp+ and displaces around 30 cubic litres, then you're not impressing me.)

Running open pipes on a street bike close to a significant settlement however just signifies that you have no respect for your fellow man.

If you're so inclined, then at least go the whole mile and implement an proper exhaust flap. Then you can go all bonkers in sparsely populated areas, and still maintain an o.k. noise floor in residential areas. Then you get my respect.
