A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Pod Filter question

APE has some nice filters that are cheaper than K&N. This is well covered in older threads here.

But, ... to answer your question, ... I don't think anyone here has ever heard of the "4into1" brand.

They look a lot like the APE brand filters, which, in turn, look a lot like K&N filters, except for the lack of the logo on the chrome caps.

The price is right, they <might> be OK, but nobody here knows for sure.

.

I have the APEs, they look as good as (or better than) the K&Ns. Mine are 5 years old, just had them cleaned and oiled and they're like new. Only difference is they cost half the K&Ns.

PS Your pic looks like APEs.

Wolfdog, yours are VM carbs, not BS

I think I still have a set of K&Ns laying around, PM me

Those APE pods will fit the BS CV type carbs Suzuki used on the larger bikes but not sure if they will fit the VM's too. Some measurements are in order before ordering just to be safe.

I like those ape and the price too. Need to confirm fitment.

Thanks Ed

+1. I have used K&N on a previous bike and have APE pods on my 1100E. There is no quality or performance difference between them that I can tell. The APE filters are cheap enough that I would never bother with an unknown fleabay clone to save a couple more $$.

I'm not sure how much of an issue this is, but I just came to the realization that the pods I have (came with the bike) have a lip inside that looks like it is blocking the idle air inlet.

Those 4into1 ones don't seem to have the same lip, and I was actually looking at another set on their site (www.4into1.com) for my 78 GS550. Although, I'm considering just cutting channels in the rubber that line up with the inlet holes. (I'm actually curious if anyone else has done this)

for those unfamiliar with 4into1, it's a shop in South San Francisco that specializes in old Honda parts. They're kind of the a one stop shop for old Japanese bike stuff, and they have a great reputation. That being said, I don't know if their branded pods are any good.
