A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.
Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.
Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...
If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.
If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Probable cause of the failures could be that those R/R's are mounted about 2 inches away from the exhaust right behind the engine (those bikes have an undertail exhaust that come up behind the motor and under the seat). On later models the R/R is mounted inside the fairing near the front.
Just goes to show that you can't always assume that the factory knew what they were doing. In this example it is pretty laughable that nobody was reviewing the design enough to figure out that mounting an R/R near the exhaust was a bad idea.
I didn't say it was junk - but since it's masquerading as being a direct replacement for the OEM, meaning it's a fair assumption to make that it's a series unit, and it turns out to be MOSFET or SCR, then it's sub-standard. Not just in my opinion, but fact.
Only reason people are looking for these is to put an end to the fried stator syndrome - kinda sticks in my craw and boils my urine that a seller is deliberately misleading buyers, based on that need.
This seller, and others, most definitely knows what he's peddling - and doesn't give a toss about anyone's stator as long as he gets the money.
They're popping up all around - sheesh, cut out the middleman and get them direct from China via Alibaba / Aliexpress.

I agree completely some factory engineers should be slapped right up side head.
Every time I here someone say. Oh but the factory did it like that for a reason so it must be right. I just shake my head and think to myself "Idiot"

In other words, you have no first hand knowledge of this unit.
