DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

While I do not believe in bashing a bike for 'style'; if I think it looks goofy I may crack a joke. Safety is another matter. Each motorcycle represents all motorcycles in the public eye. That 'chopper, bobber, junker' does not even come close to being street legal or meeting basic safety standards.

That bike is not an exercise in style, it's just a very low quality rat bike that is fundamentally unsafe and illegal most everywhere.

Riding without a helmet is usafe too but it should be the choice of the rider, not anyone else.

Lotta effort, but the tank just sucks. Realize the tripple backbone causes grief, tank selection wise, but I'd cut the backbone outta it and gone with a single, or built a tank for it.

Rehashed a Virago tank on mine.

riding with a helmet should be a legal requirement in my opinion

You're right, it is you're opinion.

It fact that the world is over populated. The strong and wise live and evolve.
Would be a much better place to live if saftey laws where a choice.

Good one ! Way to defend the constitution. Like smoking, drinking, and eating junk food until you explode. Thanks for the health insurance crisis.

I dont care what you ride / build. Just dont endanger me, you, or anyone else with it.

Now, back to some more bike pictures.

I would agree with you if the liability for the unsafe acts or conditions was completely born by the rider but society shares in the liability for the unsafe act. We all pay for disabilities and deaths on a number of levels.

The rider is in the public arena, not operating on privately held property.

Which is a subject for a different thread all together.

Thanks for the welcome. I bought it in late October last year and had time to ride it once for about a half hour. Living in Illinois it got too cold to ride quick so I haven't had enough time on it to tell how painfull it is to ride. I had a friend start rebuilding the engine in April and he got busy and had to push my bike aside for a while. The engine is ready to go back together now. I wanted to get it road worthy and safe to ride before I hopped on. There was no front brake period and the back brake, I realized was missing some bolts after I dropped it off to get worked on while we were looking it over. So needless to say it needs a lot of work.

I just wanted to quote what I have already posted. I know the bike is very unsafe and thats why I havent ridden it except for when I first bought it a year ago. I wont ride it until it is safe to ride.

Those are old pictures I posted to show my progress . When it is finished it wont even look like it does now.

I have a helmet and it is Snell DOT rated and will never ride with out one. I have 4 friends that have passed away from bikes and none of which had one on.

I didnt just go to a junk yard and find a bike that ran just to have one. I bought it to "make my own bike".

Anyways, thanks guys for the criticism. I would rather get tips and help on how to fix the bike instead though. Love ya all!! And you dont have to worry about me being on the road until next year at the minimum.

Dude, un-helmeted riders who get hurt are such a drop in the bucket regarding insurance and health cost. Go complain about the deadbeats of society that dont pay squat, go to emergency rooms because they have a tooth ache, ear ache, flu or a cold, and we, the tax payers end up paying for it. Take that stand, but dont sit here and blame that mess on wether your wearing a helmet or not. Thats just b.s., in my opinion.

Back to the subject at hand..

Have a beer on me!!

life is about choice. Brakes, helmets and brake lights are a choice.

I choose life....:-\\\
if riding with out brakes, a helmet and whats the point of a brake light if you havent got brakes then thats your choice, but yours will be a very short life!

I know the answer! I know the answer!!!

"...and world peace."

Thank you Octain for posting photos in the "picture thread"!

I have political opinions too, and they don't include socialists from Europe; but lets just post pictures of bikes. :D

so why dont european opinions count? are you saying you are better than us?

I'd say unless one asks for opinions, if you don't like it, keep it to yourself.

Safety concerns are another issue, but it seems you already know the issues your bike might have now, and will be addressing them. You will get lots of help here, just ask. And I personally welcome you. And thanks for your service to our Country. :)

Nah, your not from France, then he'd say we're better. His complaint, I'm betting is socialized healthcare.

Can we post some pics here now!

Yes, I'm saying democracy is better than socialism; you know: less gov't is better than more we control our lives, not the king...oops, I mean the gov't :)
...nice pics, by the way.

I'll be taking my own advice and only posting with pics from here on out; and sieze this opportunity to appologize to ANYONE that I may have offended (it's the retired US Army officer in me). Feel free to PM, however. And for the record, I don't mind at all that my dad fought to save all of europe from a mad socialist dictator and here is why: because ALL PEOPLE COUNT.
