A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Even though you had a darn good base for your project, that is an amazing transfer in a month! Very close to my "L" plans, but I got 8 months in mine and counting...
Nice job!!!

Well here's mine. GS1100GK with plenty of custom bits.

Can I ask what you had done exactly? i have the same bike and am researching ideas....since i have not 1 creative bone in my body! I'd really be interested in the Motor, carb, etc.

79 GS1000S New bore and 1085 pistons/rings, welded crank, ported head, Andrews S2 degreed cams, undercut tranny gears, Vance & Hines billet racing clutch, Mikuni VM33 racing carbs, oil cooler, and a Dyna 2000 ignition. The frame, swingarm, etc. was powdercoated, and the body parts were painted by our friend Larry at www.meticulouspaint.com All the pinstripes are painted, not decals. NINE coats of clear. GS1100E front fender. Tinted Zero Gravity windscreen. The motor was painted by me. The swingarm is an upgraded aluminum one from a GS1100. Straight rate springs in the forks and Works Performance shocks in the rear. Upgraded calipers and rotors, black braided SS brake lines. She is shown with a NOS Alphabet exhaust, but I also have two old school Yoshimura exhausts for her. She will also be getting some GS1150/GS1100 wheels and wider tires once I get to it.

Started with this:

Here's my '79 GS750L. YES, it is an L model, say what you want about it but I think I did a good job de-L'ing it for a substantial riding improvement-superbike bars, one off seat and rearset fabrication, rejetted to 125 main's, APE filters, MAC 4-1 exhaust. Still under 9k miles

^That's me after a 180 mile ride from school in Schenectady, NY back home at Medfield, MA. The new 530 sprockets are geared more for acceleration and resulted in much more vibration at highway speeds. Not to mention the MDI shocks are like struts and the seat I fabricated I haven't finished... it only has neoprene foam which is okay for riding around town but feels like concrete after an hour on the road. I couldn't feel my A$$ for days!
Edit: some before pictures for comparison...

I must say that you, sir, have one of my favorite bikes on here. To be honest seeing this bike got me thinking about my own. I'm considering taking some queues from your bike and applying them to my own.

Props!

william henry, you mentioned 125 mains. Did you also richen the jet needles position?
Your bike looks good!:)

My '82 GS1200G with 34CV carbs and pods (that don't work on them.)

No hacksaws were used in this build. Does it still qualify as "Custom"? ;)

This is my offering, mildly custom 79 1000 L, 1100 E headlight, mini blinkers, mini tail light, Alligator skin vinyl seat cover. Cut my levers down a bit shorter, Daytona Handle bars, painted my fork leg lowers - dark gray metaflake - Duplicolor Rim paint, also did the top of my tank with that same paint.
