I'm looking for a particular look & I haven't found it yet... Please post a picture of your shocks.

I think I'm going to end up with largely black units.

Looking for pics of different Ikon's, Works, YSS etc and any feedback if you're pleased with the performance and if possible post your weight & what spring you're using (Stock, heavy duty etc)

Cheers,

Dan :)

Love my Ohlins; They are Yellow and Gold with little black adjuster knobs:rolleyes:

Yeah... nice shocks but that's not the look I want. I have something approximating that already :D

Thanks mate... Looks like they'll end up on Ebay or I might get a new set of softer springs on them I guess if they grow on me!

Dan :)

Here's a pic of my 1100 with Fox Street Shocks. These are currently sprung for a 180 lb rider I believe (going by Fox's color code table), and were a bit plush for me, at 200-210 lbs. They are a 1" over stock length (13.5 from top eye hole to bottom clevis hole, IIRC), and have an air valve to pressurize to 250 psi, so I never came close to bottoming them out, in spite of excessive static sag. I tried them on for a few months and took them off at the end of last season, to send them to Thor for rebuilding and new heavier rate springs (one of the seals began to leak just before I took them off). Since then, I have acquired a sweet set of NOS Marzocchi piggys though, so I have not sent these out, and may put them up for sale, once I try on, and am satisfied with the Marzocchis.

Sorry for the large pic.:o

Tony.

sorry for the Hi-Jac, What Make header pipe is that on the 82 1100? Any pics of the down tubes?

And what's that can? I'm always interested in a shorty style can.

And never, I mean never, apologize for a large pic of such a sweet ride.

that's a WOLF racing pipe and is a complete system from head to can
great pipe nice sound

You talkin about Marzocchi Symbol shocks? I would like to know how they work for you. I purchased a set of Symbols in the early 90's for $200 and sent em back to Cosmpolitian twice for softer springs & revalve. They didn't track over small irregularities and sent the force directly into the frame. Maybe the clevis hole was to big could never figure it out so sold em on EBay five years ago.

Hope you have a more favorable experience, they certianly look great though

Thanks, Turtleface. Yes, it is a complete Wolf system....they aren't available any longer. I have a pic in my profile album showing the down tubes, Paco...if it isn't clear enough, I can send you some larger res. ones via PM...don't want to hijack Salty's thread completely.

They are the red body/black spring/yellow cylinder ones seen on a few member's bikes here.....I had started a thread when I just bought them, and most users had good performance reports...the consensus was that they were sprung on the firm side for riders under 200lbs, but heavier guys found them acceptable. I prefer a taut (but not harsh) ride myself, so I'm optimistic. At any rate, if they don't work out for me, someone else here can have a crack at them, and I'll send the Fox pair out for rebuild/re-spring.
I do hope they are acceptable though, since rebuild kits are still available, and it looks pretty simple to do.
Tony.

Wow, that's a treasure trove ^^^ right there!!:eek::cool:
How do you like the Showa Advantage....I was sourcing a new set couple years ago from a dude in Hawaii, but they were ending up much more expensive than Ohlins in price at the time, and I found no reviews available as to the performance.
Re. the Marzocchis, mine are the Strada, Srssupertrapp....a former member here, who does not post any more, had the Symbols on his 1100.

Haven't tried them, so I can't really say.

I wont pollute the thread with off-topic bike pictures, but if you click on the links in my signature you'll see I'm using the early Pro Racers on a 'period' CB900F, and the ZRX KYB's on a modified CB900F. The ZRX KYB's are plentiful and they're actually a nice shock - easily rebuildable too.

Not pictured, but also on the bikes in my signature are Ohlins on the Kat and Fox shocks on the CB1100F. The Fox's are probably my favorite - I like the look, build quality and relative rarity of them.

Here's some pics of my new Hagon shocks I just put on. Got them from Dave Quinn Motorcycles. They set me up for $218 + shipping. Got them with the 26kg/146lb springs. Installation was a breeze and the ride is 100% better than the stockers. Still have stock springs up front which I'll probably replace next. So far I'm happy with the Hagons.
