A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Year, model?

Once that is out, someone will know.

It helps to just put that info in your signature line.

The two in your first post look like fasteners that were used to secure a set of crash bars on my bike that also secure the engine They used them instead of nuts as were they fit is tight were they locate and because of the shape they stop them turning when the securing screws/bolts are tightened

The one in the second post I have no idea looking at the picture it looks like it has two spade fittings now this is a complete guess something to do with side stand switch?

Updated topictitle. It is a gs500e 1979. Sorry bout not posting that. I can take another pic of second item. Yes it got two spade connectors on it. Someone mentioned sidekickstand and that make sense.

Thanx for every answer guys, highly appreciated.

Top Tip: When you fit the engine securing bolts to those two egg-shaped nuts, make absolutely sure you grab the right bolts out of the bucket, 'cos if you pick ones that are just a touch too long, you can punch a hole in the crankcase. The bolts are commonly replaced with longer ones if there's been a set of crashbars fitted.
Got the T-shirt on that one, along with a clean sweep in the Dumbass Stakes for that year.

I was going to say about the same about the first items.
Someone can have a GS for decades and never see those - - untill loosen those lower engine mount bolts ,,, and those tear-drop shaped nuts fall out.

And this one.
I do not recognise that at all. I am not that much of a gear head, but Have had GS650G, and/or 850G, and/or 1100G continuously since 1982.
I can say is nothing related to the sidestand. And defintaly is not the sidestand swtich, at least for a G, but would think that sort of stuff is common to all models.
