A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Than I would have to sleep in the garage :p.

I need to replace some of the engine side cover bolts, the new stainless that replaced the old ones with are just slightly to long, so I have leaks on both sides. Also need to use evapo-rust on the tank, sync the carbs...before I can fire it up...Video to come!!

Joe,
Are you pretty much recovered and able to ride now? BTW you have one of the cleanest garages I have seen. I almost have to clean mine every day to be even 1/2 A$$ ed and it usually looks like a typhoon hit. :o

Yeah the wife said if I dont keep it clean than I have to make room for her car. :(

I have been riding for a couple of months on the FZ, the shoulder is about 90%, doc said it will be a full year before everything heals back to normal. Took this thing up to the Ozarks last weekend witha couple of buddies..twisty heaven.

Finished up the triple cover, the fork covers are bit to glossey, going to shoot them with some flat. Ordered some new grips to tidy up the cockpit. Need to replace the cracked hood meter and order the stock mirrors.

Ahhh, good to hear it's running! And glad my bench synch was close...sure makes it alot easier.

As for the colortune, that's up to you. Do a plug chop after a long cruise, 4th gear, 1/8 throttle. If the plugs look good, then you are good to go. If they are off, the colortune will get them set pretty darn close.

Looks GOOD Joe! Are those tie down hook marks on the handlebar risers or just the light. I HATE seeing someone strap a bike down without using soft hooks or loops of some sort! Ray.

Ray,

Yes those are tie down marks from the previous owner, been watching ebay for a decent set. Its amazing how many things stick out when you begin detailing a project. Hey do you have a set on that bike you are parting out ?

I might have a set that's in better cond than that... Will try to take some pics if I remember. Couldn't you file out the damage before painting?

Dan :)

Yeah I actually did but it was right on the edge of the mold so there was really no way to make it look right. Let me know on yours if you have them shoot me a price.

thx man!

Joe

Mine have scratched paint but no marks in the metal that wouldn't polish out real easy....

Just checked them out earlier tonight.

Dan :)

You done with this bike yet Joe? Last word was something about derusting the tank. How's it going?

Ed, I managed to de-rust the tank a few weeks ago, rustbeeter worked pretty well, here is a pic I took awhile back prior to using it and after the acid dip. No loose particles. Pic is looking in from the fuel sending unit hole.
