Finally got the cams degreed. 105.5 intake, 107 exhaust. Tomorrow I'll button up the motor, finish installing the dyna 2000 and coils, install the instrument cluster/headlight/signals, put on the wheels and install the brakes. Oh, and finish painting the VM33's so I can install them Saturday. I plan on firing it up Sunday.

I'll grab GS Express and the 3 of us can go for some "break in" miles, K?
Great idea to use the 1100E front fender/rims and 1150 rotors also, eh?
We ride south past Carson City all of the time. PM sent for directions.

Don't be grabbing me Bubba!

Ask me nicely. :o:o

Yeah, ya gotta break er' in tho.

Yeah I never had any clearance issues; just never really liked the aesthetics of it.

I had a black standard Yosh header and I used to scrape the crap out of it in RT handers. I sold it for $100 and got a chrome race header. No more clearance problems. Regarding the center stand issue; we used our center stands as work stands. We left the mounting bolts in the frame bosses and used them (only need 1 of them in most cases) to temporarily reattach it for servicing our bikes. It was a P-I-T-A having to remove the head pipes to change oil but we used it as an opportunity to thoroughly clean our pipes and otherwise inaccessible parts of the bike. You can use it to change the rear tire without removing the head pipes.

the engine has all new chrome bolts. Any other bolts on the frame, etc. that I am re-using are being polished.

Hi, the paint is 11/10 best ive seen. But you say you are polishing the bolts. They the cad plated ones that will rust over time or SS ones? enjoy ure weekend. How you running her in? Highway or some slow mountain passes that would be a better option.

I'm just polishing the heads in most cases. Most of them are chrome, I think. They polish up pretty easy even with years of grime. I'm not too worried about rust as the humidity here is real low, about 12% on average.
As for break-in, I thought a few not so slow laps up the mountain to Virginia City and back down should break her in real nice. :D

The VM33's are finished. I decided to go all black with polished hardware. Notice the cool custom aluminum choke spools. Sorry for the weird lighting.

Eye candy!! Awesome Bruce! another epic Cooley build in the works...

Almost all back together. Later today:

Finish wiring Dyna 2000
Install tail light/rear fender
Install turn sigs
Install instrument cluster/headlight
Bleed brakes
Install carbs/cables

Add gas and fire it up!!

Mostly all assembled. I borrowed the wheels from the Skunk until I can get an offset brake stay and use the 1150/1100 wheels.

What paint did you use on the exhaust? Make sure you cure it slowly... You want to idle it for a couple of minutes & shut it off. Do that 2 or 3 times then gradually let it go longer, 5 mins a couple of times, one ten minute blast. Let it cool between each one.

If you don't it burns it at the head pipes & it will start to flake. :)

WHAT!???
No pictures of the completed bike on display at Infineon Raceway being drooled on by spectators?

Thanks for the advise. I used VHT Flameproof 2000 degree paint. I used the primer, then the black. The black is not glossy, so I followed that with the flameproof clear which shined it up a bit. The emblem is cleared over also. It was a quickie job to get the pipe on for the AMA event. If it doesn't hold up I'll sandblast it off and have it ceramic coated when I can afford to.

Here's a few sneak peeks from the AMA display at Infineon Raceway. I'll take some better pics when I have time.

I haven't even started it yet...I just put it together for the show and ran out of time. I still need to install the petcock, fuel sending unit, fuel line and the stator. The cam caps will be replaced with some finned black ones that I have. I still need to install the crash guards, too. Oh, and put some oil in it and break it in! :D
