I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Project GS1000 with GS1100G D-Port Head, 1100G Cylinder & Mikuni RS34

Another amazing build thread, it was a treat to read and I enjoyed your skill and attention to detail.

Great job!

Question, will my GS1100L top end. Fit my GS1000E block? Gotta 82 GS1100L shaftdrive motor, run's like a top. And I have a 79 GS1000E motor thats tired. If I take from the pistons up/jug's an all. Will it set on my 1000 block/crank????

Amazing! You guy's have shared a tone of information. And the pic's are perfect as well. This 1100/1000 rebuild will be the first of what I hope will be a great learning and great fun filled journy. With more bikes to come.We both are inlove with the GS/E model's.He started back in the late 70's with a 1979GS1000E. That bike started the addiction with the both of us. We now have his GS1100E 1982,the only thing is.It does'nt have the correct motor. So we want to repace the 4 valve 1000E cylenders/topend. With a set of GS1100L 4valve cylenders/topend. Your knowledge and photo's are awsome. Thank you, and again. AMAZING WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR BEAUTIFUL BIKES.

I must say I'm sorry. I'm say'n he, He as in "my FATHER". sorry My Father and I are enjoy'n this together. Sorry DAD

Welcome to the Site GS1100EGS1000E :)

So you have a 1982 GS1100L 2V and you want to transplant the cylinders & head on your 1000E. That will bump the displacement up to 1074cc. (In my project I used Wiseco 73.5 pistons to yield 1100cc). It should just drop onto the 1000E block but since I have not performed the modification your contemplating I cannot say whether it will work. . . . Worth trying.

The later model 1983 & 1984 1100G's head had the D port head which boosts low end torque . . . should be the same on L's? (No comments Tkent02). Look in the exhaust port to determine if its D shaped.

Another option is the tried & true Wiseco 1085cc 10:25CR. Look forward to seeing your project.

Matt,
Looking through the Inbox I never saw the request. In the interest of keeping this information in front of new GS projectters I figured to give it a bump too.

How has this 1100CC build held up since you did it and what do you ultimately think of it vs. the 1085 kit that you had previously? Did the swap achieve your goal of more low end torque?

Yes, swapping to the GS1100G D-port head with Mikuni RS34s increased the low end torque noticeably over the 1085 kit. I am still running the 1100cc and its been reliable.
